My husband and I were married this weekend in old Montreal! We treated ourselves and guests to spa treatments over the weekend and everyone had a wonderful experience!!! The staff were so wonderful, and the treatments we received were perfect! The hairdresser did the most beautiful vintage wedding updo and makeup, that truly made my whole look! Thank Avie spa... My daughter booked hammam steam bath and massages for us. The spa is lovely and the location in the Old Port is charming. The staff is very accommodating - even finding an extra female masseuse for me when I let them know that the male one that was booked for me was not acceptable for me. My masseuse, Genevieve Monsette,... More

Was booked in for the gift of a mani/pedi, and was served by Noemie, who is friendly, genuine, and perfectly bilingual. She took care of my poor tired feet and made them pretty, but more importantly helped me repair some of the damage done by a bad nail job elsewhere. I would definitely go again the next time I'm in... More

I went to the Avie Spa with a couple of friends yesterday. I was warmly welcomed and ask to sit in the waiting area until it was my turn for the hammam. While I enoyed the hammam, the 30 mins did pass very quickly and it was more a steam room experience than a traditional hammam. It would be a... More

We bought a Groupon for a double massage and use of the hammam and spent our morning at the spa today. After lots of trouble finding parking, we found ourselves in a clean and welcoming little haven, greeted by the nicest hostess who showed us to our lockers before accompanying us to the baths. The hammam was very cozy. There... More

I am a Hammam Expert. I have tried hammams in Syria, Lebanon, the Persian Gulf, Egypt, London, Netherlands, France the rest of Canada etc etc etc.. I have been looking for an authentic Hammam experience and so far my most favourite hammam is in Cairo, Egypt. I went in April 2014 and December 2015 The staff at Avie Spa are... More

Dear client: Thank you so much for your feedback. From your comments I can point out some details that can probably have caused the misunderstanding: 1) The two times that you have been to the spa the hammam has been booked for 30 minutes and only the hammam access, not the Oriental Ritual. The hammam access is a service conceived... More

Just had a wonderful couples massage at Avie Spa this past holiday weekend. Elizabeth and Michelle were wonderful and made us feel so relaxed and mellow after a busy day walking in Old Montreal. We also had a Hammam before our treatments.. New to us. Very warm but there is a shower to cool off and nice cold water. We... More

My mom and I both had the basic facial and a massage. I must say the facial was fantastic!! The young girl did some extractions and my face was glowing!! The massage was very relaxing as well. I would definetely come back and refer it to my friends!!

My husband and I got our first couple's massage at Avie spa; I got the pre-natal massage and he got a relaxation swedish massage. It was lovely! The ambiance was very calm and serene, the staff was very polite and warm and the service was great. We ended up buying vouchers for another visit.

I went to Avie Spa on a bitterly cold day, for a Hammam and Massage Package I had bought through Groupon. A woman at the reception desk named Catalina, greeted me warmly as I walked in. She then offered to speak to me in the language of my choice which I really appreciated. After this, Catalina directed me to a... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
