Our family of four traveled up from Vermont for an overnight adventure! It was fabulous! I cannot say enough wonderful things about our instructor, Fred! As a scuba diving instructor and teacher, I recognize experience and expertise in working with students of all ages. Fred is phenomenal! He taught our family in English and a visiting family from France in French. He worked well with my husband and I, in our sixties, our children in their tweens, and another entire family with a seven year old. His people skills, control, and genuine desire to ensure everyone had fun, are a rare find! The location is modern, comfortable, and we'll run. I highly recommend it!

Imagine experiencing the feeling of freefalling without having to actually jump out of a perfectly good plane... that's what SkyVenture does.

You get a thorough pre-flight briefing and are accompanied by your instructor in the wind tunnel. Looking at the pictures afterward I had a massive grin on my face the whole time, definitely something I'll do again when I'm back in Montreal.

Been with my son not long ago.
It's a great place if you want to experience the feeling of skydiving in a safe controlled environment.
We both took the "introductory" flight, which is for beginners.
We first got a technical/theoretical explanation of the different positions to adopt, and all the other basic things to consider/know.
After getting ready with all the required equipment we've got in line for the "flight" (our package included 3 flights, so you get in 3 times).
The instructor, once it's your turn, stays next to you all the time helping you to get properly positioned, so the wind, coming from underneath you, keeps you suspended "flying".
Even in my case, having reduced mobility, the instructor was able to help me getting in the proper position and let me fly on my own releasing me... really amazing feeling!
At the end of your final 'flight", if you are stable enough, the instructor flies with you, holding your hands, and they increase the wind power so you both go really high up, then back down a few times... extraordinary!
At the end, the instructor does a short skills demonstration, which is pretty astonishing, intended to show you what you could learn if you go back a few times and take the more advanced packages.
I'd highly recommend this activity to anybody looking for high adrenaline without risks!

I have mixed feelings about this. I spent $1000 to bring 9 people in my family to this over Christmas. We were told when we booked that since we were 9 people, not 12, we might have 3 extra people with us since scheduling is done around groups of 6. This was fine with us, and a little 10 year old took the training with us. We were having an amazing time, and all 9 of us did our 2 one minute flights and were loving it. (The little boy didn’t do his two one minutes with us for some reason and had to wait another half hour to get his chance; he arrived at 12 and did his one minute flights at 1:40).

When we were about to start out 2 minute flights, a group of 3 regulars came in, along with the little boy. The regulars then began the session with a 2 minute flight and continued to do 2 minutes between every flight by someone else while we waited. I asked the instructor what was going on, since I would have expected the 3 extra people to simply join our group and take their turns in order, rather than having priority over us. He explained that regulars get ten minutes of flying time, and he had put it in our group since we didn’t have 12 people. I asked him why their 10 minutes wouldn’t go at the end since we had been there since noon and were in the middle of our session and he explained that they need breaks between each 2 minute flight so they get to go first and our flight is their two minute break before they go back in.

Anyway, the flying part was fun but allowing the regulars to interrupt and take over the experience is a significant negative, and is not the same at all as booking 3 other novices who have the same priority as you and do the same flying. You are literally being used so that they can allow regular jumpers to fly with breaks in between without having to pay for the breaks. In the first 21 minutes of the video of our 2 minute flights only 3 of our group fly. The rest is the regulars getting their multiple turns and the long-waiting little boy. I think for $1000, they can do better.

Other minor issues that made this less than 5 star:
1) We reserved for 12pm, arrived and signed in, and waited for 25 minutes for the training.
2) The training part was French with English subtitles, but the elaboration was in entirely in French with a only a few parts translated to English, although I told the person 3 people were not bilingual. If you have people who don’t understand a language well, the whole explanation should be in French and English.
3) The instructor who came in with the regulars explained that he did us a favour by taking over from the first instructor since the first one wasn’t qualified to take us up to the top. Given that I had indicated before we started that we all wanted to go to the top, providing us an instructor who could do that doesn’t seem like a favour, given the cost.

Hey there! We’re so sorry to hear that your group experience was not all you hoped it to be. We agree that, in regards to the training, we could have managed the situation in a better way. Our instructors should have translated the majority of the class in English for those who were not bilingual. We assure you that this will be reinforced with all of our staff members. In order to understand what happened in your group, why it was scheduled the way it was and who was your instructor, we would like to know when you flew with us exactly (date, time), as well as your full name. You can e-mail this information at catherine.c@skyventuremontreal.com; a manager will contact you. This way, we will be able to address your concerns with all the information needed on hand. In the meantime, we can assure you that our intention is not to use our first-time flyers to exempt our regular flyers to pay for breaks. Anyone who flies needs breaks, whatever their flying expertise is. That’s why the flyers’ turns alternate. We usually do not have regular flyers in a group with fewer first-time flyers to avoid a situation like yours. We understand that there may have been a scheduling mistake on our end and we apologize if that’s the case. As for the time it took between your arrival and the training period, that is normal; our Introduction packages include an observation period between the registration and the class-room training. Finally, our Flying-With-Flyers service (going to the top) is not advertised as a part of our packages because it is not a guaranteed experience, since it takes our newer staff members about one year of training to obtain this additional certification. Safety is our primary focus at SkyVenture Montreal and all our instructors are fully qualified to provide a safe environment for anyone to try indoor skydiving, but, as stated on our waivers, it is completely up to their discretion to offer this additional service. We understand the disappointment this can cause and that is why we do all we can to offer it, hence the extra instructor who flew with your group just for that reason. We hope this helps in understanding your concerns. Thank you again for your feedback and don’t hesitate to contact us with your information as mentioned above. All the best, SkyVenture Montreal Team

Took the kids there for march break...mistake number one didn't research the price in advance....the cost was 140.00$ for two kids...wow! Mistake number two I went ahead and paid before having a proper look at how this attraction really works. It is an actual sky diving simulator which is totally awesome, but not for the weak at heart or their parents lol....kids decided not to go through with it and I did not blame them one bit...it looks super fun if you've got the guts and the instructors are very knowledgeable that is not the problem. It is the way you can get sucked up pretty high up there and tat the floor you stand on made of super thin wires has these giant vents under them and its a long way down........it's just intimidating all together.anyways went back down to get a refund and I was given a hard time. You need 48hrs advance to cancel or no money back, but I was a walk in customer. I pleaded and I got reimbursed but not with a smile that's for sure......
I still think its a blast and who knows maybe in three or our years we mat try it and go trough with it, a word to the wise if you do go, go upstairs and watch how it works before you pay, also clean bill of health there are waivers to be filled out.

Hi! Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your experience at SkyVenture Montreal; we always read and consider the feedback given to us. As you mention in your review, we also recommend that people call us beforehand to make a reservation so we can explain to them all the aspects of the activity. When you see people fly in the flight chamber for the first time, it may look intimidating, but it is extremely safe; if it wasn't, we would not let a 4 year old try it out. The floor that you refer to is actually made of over 100 steel wires that can hold thousands of pounds each. They are in fact the same wires used in F-18 planes to make control cables. As for the 4 engines that create an even flow of wind in the flight chamber, they are well secured at the top of our building making it impossible for a flyer to reach them. Thanks again for your feedback!

This is one of those activities that you wait too long before you do it. Once you have done it, you wonder why you waited so long. Ideal for group parties, family outings, couples date night or with a friend. Accessible to all, even you're not extremely fit, the staff helps you out and you can do it according to you level of comfort.

My husband took me to Skyventure as for a Valentine's Day adventure. I was a bit nervous about the whole thing. I am afraid of heights and was not sure if this would be an issue for me. By the time we got there I was quite nervous!! They are really well set up and the place it clean and staff friendly. They start you off by watching another group go in, they take about 8 people in each group. We watched for about 20 mins. Your instructor comes to get you and as a group you head into a classroom to go over technique and signals while in the chamber. It is pretty easy to understand, our instructor Fred was fluently bilingual and very relaxed, which helped me to relax as well. Then you go to get your gear on. They give you coveralls, goggles and a helmet, and you have to remove all jewelry. They have lockers for you to put your belongings in. Bring running shoes to wear while flying. You are not allowed to bring cameras or phones into the chamber so if you want to take any photos or footage bring someone along. You are allowed to do it, but the person shooting has to be outside the chamber. They also take photos and video during your flight which you can purchase afterward. We bought 1 pic each and had them emailed to us ($5 a pic)
Once you are in the chamber it is really hard to hear anything, this is why the signals are so important. When we arrived we watched quite a few families and lots of kids doing their session, I was wondering if many adults would be there but our group was all adults. One child we watched ahead of us panicked a bit and the instructor was great. He took him out of the chamber and talked to him for a minute and got him to try again. Our instructor Fred was terrific with everyone in our group. He was a newer employee, but he was really great. Lots of enthusiasm, and encouragement. The flying was so cool! We loved it! It didn't take long to figure it out. We had two 1-minute flights. You can do 4 minutes as well, in which case your last flight is 3 minutes. You can also opt to go to the top of the chamber with your instructor. He holds on to you and flies you up there. It is crazy! I highly recommend this as an activity, I am sure we will go back again. It's not cheap, but it is an expensive operation and the staff are really wonderful. Treat yourself to an adventure and book a flight! Merci Fred!

Hi, Thanks for this very extensive description of your experience at our facility and for taking the time to write it :) A lot of people who are afraid of heights often think they won't be able to do the activity. What they don't know is that, when you fly, you are in a horizontal position, moving, and you always have a visual reference, so you don't get vertigo. Plus, it's not like skydiving where you have to jump at 13 000 feet! We hope to see you fly with us soon! SkyVenture Montréal Team

A few months ago, I brought my son with a few of his friends to try this out. Although they all liked it, my son fell down on the metal grills and hurt his back. I thought his pain would go away but he is now doing physio because the pain has become chronic. I don't know how the fall happened exactly, but apparantly the staff wasn't able to catch his fall. Maybe this was only an unfortunate accident, I don't know. Maybe it happens more often, so you should caution your children before bringing them there. It is not 100 % safe. (I know a lot of people who tried it and all of them said they liked it, so it seems like a cool concept!)

Hello, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear that you son’s pain has not gone away and find this incident very unfortunate. We do want to stress that our customers’ safety is our main priority. In fact, all of our instructors go through an extensive training before getting their rating, which is recognized internationally and issued by the International Bodyflight Association, the 1st organization to provide safety standards for flight instructors. Although incidents can happen at rare times, indoor skydiving is a low risk activity and, as stated above, we make all possible efforts to ensure our customers’ safety. We wish your son a speedy recovery!

Interesting concept to say the least, especially for those who are scarred of heights.
I've been skydiving a few times and its not quite the same but fun nonetheless.
My problem is that I was too tense and hence didn't really "take off". The trick to this is to be loose and all will work out. I wish it was a little longer so you could practice.

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to write this review! We are glad that your 13 year old loved his experience! He still has a few years to wait to go skydiving from an airplane, but at least he can practice his free fall skills at SkyVenture Montreal!
