Took train 622 from Montreal to QC for the weekend - There seem to be a lot of complainers here in the reviews but my trip was on time and absolutely comfortable and lovely.

Zero room for storage Via recommends a small carry on for prestige cabin and check larger luggage. This is good advice. Dress is very casual.

Boarding a VIA train (10 Replies)
I am travelling by VIA rail between cities. How early do you have to arrive at the station and check in before the train departs? I cannot seem to find this information on the VIA rail Web site, which truly needs to revise its navigation and content.

if you are travelling in business class, go to the VIA Business lounge to check in. Business class passengers are loaded first. Otherwise, assuming you have your ticket, and a seat allocation appears on it, then just join the line for your train. Departure gates with train numbers are displayed on an overhead board in the main station hall. It's all quite straightforward and obvious.

bus fares (2 Replies)
I'm going to get in Quebec by VIA Rail Canada. Then, from the station to my hotel I'll take the buses 800 and 25 (according to google). Do you guys have any idea of how much is the fare for these buses? Must I pay only with coins? Is there any card fare that I could buy near the station to facilitate my trip? Thanks!!!

Travel via VIA rail Canada from Vancouver to visit Lake Loui (11 Replies)
Hi, I was wondering if any one can give my wife and I advice on traveling from Vancouver to Lake Louise, Jasper & Banff. We have been told about over-night rail but cost we have been given is expensive. We are early 50's and reasonably fit. What are must see sights and things to do? Are other rail options other than VIA? We are planning to travel from Australia to Vancouver in May 2013. Thanks (in advance) Newie Traveller

I meant to include in my original post a question " has anyone travelled on the VIA Rail trip from Vancouver and what was the Sleepwr Plus class travel option like? Was it good value? And what should we know?
