Harbourfront Theatre opened its doors in 1996, the result of more than a decade of tireless effort on the part of a group of Summerside citizens with a vision to create a state of the art, multi purpose performing arts facility in Prince County. The theatre, along with the Eptek Art & Culture Centre and the Summerside Visitor Information Centre, is housed in The Wyatt Centre, aptly named after one of the facility's major contributors, Dr. Wanda Wyatt. Harbourfront Theatre is owned by Regional Cultural Events Centre Inc., a registered non-profit organization managed by a board of directors, general manager, and director of operations, and boasts a friendly, knowledgeable, professional staff and a dedicated core of over 90 volunteers. Its mission is "to provide a continuous live entertainment service to the Prince Edward Island community and its visitors, featuring both local and touring productions, while being a significant driving force within the community to encourage and nurture the development and appreciation of the performing arts." The facility is ideally suited to a myriad of uses, including plays, concerts, opera, ballet, comedy & magic shows, conferences, seminars, receptions, business mixers, trade shows and public forums. Beautifully appointed and state of the art equipped, the Harbourfront Theatre represents the best of both worlds - large enough to host renowned touring acts, yet small enough so that every one of its 527 seats captures a uniquely intimate performer/audience experience.

This is a very intimate, though not small, theatre. Wonderful acoustics and good seats. NIce lobby all in an attractive building.

This is a great local theatre to have that brings good entertainment to downtown Summerside. It's a cozy, comfortable theatre and all the seats are perfectly good. We have especially enjoyed their "movie nights" - one Halloween they played a double bill of Goonies and The Shining (free of charge!). One summer they played a different Hitchcock classic film every... More

Great shows, but the venue made them even more special! There is ample parking located close to the building. The theatre is cozy, with just the right amount of seating. The chairs are comfortable. Sight lines are very good depending, of course, upon who is sitting in front of you. The sound was exceptional!

The Harbourfront Theatre is a cozy intimate venue, beautifully decorated and not a bad seat in the house !! It is kept very clean ( washrooms included ) and is fully wheelchair accessible. We have seen many performances here over the years and always remark how fortunate we are to have this Theatre in our small city. A great group... More

Went to see Bruce, Boomer and Kendra. Enjoyed the evening. The music was good and I just loved Boomer. He was really funny and entertaining. They were all good. I might take in another one of their shows next year if they decide to do another one.

We saw the play, "The 39 Steps", in August in the evening. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the acting was first rate. The theatre is in a building with a tourist info desk and museum near the waterfront (thus the name).

Great organization, offering more than wonderful Theatre- David Suzuki has been there in his Blue Dot Tour, I've been there with family building Memories many times over the past 8-10 years! Some of their activities, eg. Armchair Travel sessions; Excellent Christmas Craft making demonstrations; Native and cultural events. If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit!

We have attended several performances during our summer vacations and really enjoyed them. The plays were well-cast and the props were great. The staff is very pleasant and the theatre is in a nice building with a small outdoor balcony.
