This is where you the tour and see how the history of the capital city was developed and who was there and when hanging up for you to read on your walking tour of the building and fire hall and its history is joined together in the same building. Children especially really enjoy to tour the old fire truck and put on the firemen's gear during their tour so do adult who holds the same interest. A lot of history to see and remember at once.

From other reviews, it seems that we were lucky to be able to get inside! The guard at the door said that sometimes they do tours of the building, but we didn't really have enough time to even consider it.

Once inside, to the left, there's a tourist information desk which was much quieter than the one by the quay as you get off the cruise ship. The lady was exceptionally friendly and gave us some very good advice, including suggesting visiting the Confederation Table mockup in the Confederation centre which is a must do in Charlottetown.

And don't miss the rather interesting mural!

Representatives from several eastern provinces of British North America met for ~ a week at the Government Building in Charlottetown. The petitioned the English Parliament to allow Confederation, and the result was the British North America Act. PEI was not one of the first to join; however, did so later. Each province celebrates its date of formal entry as a member of Canada, as well as Canada's formal founding. Government House in Charlottetown is a must-see if you have the opportunity, and the town is wonderful.

We walked around the cool looking City Hall in Charlottetown PEI. We were visiting from the Holland America cruise we were on. The Hall is quite large and majestic and just perfect for this quaint town. Must see to take a photo opt. Easy walkable historic area of town.

Lovely old building. Pride shines in this town and it shows.Though the offices were closed during the weekend, they have a great information desk for tourists wanting to know what to see and what to do during their stay. Lots of Canada 150 stuff, maps, pamphlets and they even give out pins.

My partner and I stopped in just to see what they had to say, and the lady we spoke with was just LOVELY (and I'm sorry, I totally forget her name!). She gave us tips of some local highlights we shouldn't miss, confirmed that we'd made the right plans for dinner (New Glasgow Lobster Supper), joked like she'd known us forever, and even told my partner he smelled good!

Definitely stop in if you need some local knowledge of where to eat and what to do.

Come and see what history can tell you in this previous jail house, now turned into a working city hall.

This is a lovely building! The town's visitor information office is in here as well, which was a very helpful find! The City Hall architecture is quite impressive as well. If a local tour guide can be trusted, it used to be a firehouse!

We were unable to go inside but this is an impressive building from the outside. Also the old bell at the side and the antique fire engine at the rear were worth a look,

To be honest, we thought this building from the outside looked uninviting!! To us, it had no historic features or statement!!!!.... easy to find, just up from the Mall,, worth a look if your sightseeing..
