**Review for the PEI 'Island and Anne of Green Gables Tour'. **

We stopped at PEI on a cruise and booked this tour beforehand through Costco. The building where we had to pick up the tickets (Founders Hall) was easy to find and a short walk from the cruise boat.

We boarded a van/small bus for the tour and enjoyed scenic views of PEI while driving. The driver (Roddie) was giving us a running commentary while driving which was interesting.

We stopped at a couple of scenic views for photos, before moving onto the Anne of Green Gables Visitor Center. We had about an hour at the Green Gables house, which felt a little rushed, but was just enough time to tour the barn, house, do a short walk on the lover's lane trail, dash around the gift store and also grab a drink-to-go.

On the way back we stopped at a touristy shop (The PEI Preserve Company) where all the tour buses go. It was right by a river, so we decided to skip the busy shop and walk for a few minutes and take photos of the river views and flower garden, etc. Again, felt a little rushed.

The tour was not all day, so we had some time before and after the tour to walk around Charlottetown on our own, which was nice.

Overall, this tour was not terrible exciting and felt a little rushed at each stop, but it was adequate and met our needs being that we were on a cruise and had limited time.

This tour represents itself as something it is not and there are much better options in PEI for Anne of Green Gables lovers. This tour is a mediocre coastal tour that hits the highlights in a short way. The tour guide was long winded and found himself much more humorous and charming than the passengers did. The tour stops were very short and very spread out. The touring van was overcrowded and was either stuffy or cold. Compared to other day tours offered in the area this tour is extremely overpriced. There is only one true Anne stop which I enjoyed but was not given enough time and a pop in a Lucy Maude Montgomery’s grave. The preserve stop is aimed at getting tourists to buy, there is no education or demonstration at the Preserve store.

Side note for Anne lovers: There is a package available in Charlottetown from the Confederacy of the Arts building that includes access to multiple Anne sites and tickets to the Anne of Green Gables musical.

Thank you for your review. The tour that I think you might have taken part in is called the “Island Drive & Green Gables” Tour, which has been our most popular tour for over 15 years! The descriptions indicate that we feature the highlights of the North Shore of our beautiful little island. Green Gables Heritage Place is one stop along the tour, as it’s definitely a highlight, that we are all very proud of. The other stops along the way we’re a fishing village, the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company and Cavendish Beach. These are all beautiful little spots that our visitors typically enjoy during this tour. I would also agree with tour comments that the Confederation Centre of the Arts sells an “Anne” package which highlights all things “Anne” as a self drive product, If you were looking for more of an ‘Anne’ themed vacation.

We had a very pleasant tour guide and were driven around town in an authentic antique double decker bus. The information on the history of Charlottetown was wonderful. However, since this tour lasts several hours, our guide started info into life in Canada and spent a lot of time advocating socialized medicine and other socialist programs as the right and just way to live. My traveling companion and I were more than a little out off by this lecture.

My wife and I scheduled a tour with this tour company and they misplaced our reservation in their system. When we showed up for our tour it was booked solid and they would only refund our money. Being on a cruise ship we were omit there for a limited time so it was too late to access another tour. The manager didn’t seem to care about what I had to say. I would be wary of booking with them if you have limited time on a shore excursion.

As a child I had read the stories of LM Montgomery and visited Anne of Green Gables. But some 20+ years later the magic is still the same. I visited with family who had never been so it was a beautiful thing to see Anne through their eyes. Many attractions have been added such as the haunted forest and gardens and the price is very reasonable. I expected it to be price gouging but it wasn't. Staff were friendly and plentiful and easy parking and accessible. However if you are mobility impaired, it's difficult to tour the house.

Our ride on the Big Blue doubledecker bus tour of Charlottetown cost about $17 per person (less than half of what you might pay for some of the other tours available), lasted just over an hour, and was a great way to be introduced to the highlights of this small but delightful provincial capital. The tour guide was a local man who seemed to be very well-informed about all aspects of life on Prince Edward Island and shared stories from his own life as a way of adding a personal touch. It was amazing to see that such a small province (fewer than 150,000 residents) can support all of the local institutions that we passed, including historic sites, century-old churches, a race track, a minor-league team's hockey arena, a community college, the University of PEI, the lovely riverside Victoria Park, and the provincial performing arts center. But best of all were the downtown streets, which on this warm and sunny national holiday (Canada Day) were thronged with people on their way to and from the celebrations underway both downtown and at the waterfront or dining at the many outdoor restaurants and cafes along Victoria Row. Book lovers will be happy to know that there are multiple bookstores along a stretch of a few blocks of Queen Street, including one devoted to PEI's favorite fictional character, Anne of Green Gables. (Reading at least the first book in the series before visiting is a good idea because much of PEI's tourist trade revolves around her.)

We took the Historic Charlottetown tour on the "big blue bus". We enjoyed all the facts and humor but the ride was a little "jumpy". Maybe the bus is not built for the slow speeds. We did enjoy it and would recommend to others.
