During our roadtrip of Maritime Canada we have become addicted to Canadian ice-cream but hadn't tried Cows Creamery until today. Well what a disappointment, the flavours aren't strong, the waffle cone is so hard it can break your teeth & it's expensive.
The tour of the "factory"was something & nothing.
Really just don't bother with it, choose a more local ice-cream stand. The one in Souris is brilliant.

Tour is a little disappointing as you don't really get to see much of the production. Nice place to get t-shirts - you can even get "custom" ones made from a catalogue of logos that is available for choosing - and of course you have to get ice cream while you're there. Nice selection of flavors.

This a must-see during your visit to PEI. Cows makes some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted. So creamy. Many people have commented that this is really not a "tour". There is a short video, and then you walk through the building on your own. There are windows you can look in and hopefully see them making ice cream. You can also see the production room where they make their famous t shirts. Gift shop is great. Overall a fun stop on your trip!

we tried the Cows ice cream because of all the hype and wanted to try it cause it was local and others liked it. We did not really think it was anything special and have eaten way better ice cream at home from the Foothills brand in Alberta and also at the Dutchman Dairy in Sicamous B.C now that is special ice cream as well as Tickleberrys on route to the Okanagan. We thought it was expensive and very small portions. well we at least tried it so to each his own

We drove specifically from Cavendish beach with 4 kids to show them an ice cream factory. It was a useless waste of time. Nothing to see. Nothing going on. There was a short video with a minute of history of the business and mostly marketing. It is just a big merchandising gimmick. After doing the "tour" I refused to spend a cent there.

We love COWS Creamery products (chocolate, ice cream, etc) but there wasn't much to see on the free tour. With the ice cream production room down, the tour was all but 5 minutes. They still have a very nice gift shop and ice cream bar so we ended up having a nice repose in our day of travelling - it just wasn't what we expected.

We stopped at the large store with the little self guided museum in it. There were many excellent ice cream flavours to choose from. The staff were friendly and the ice cream was good.

Their "tour" is just a 5-minute video and then three windows - 1 into the t shirt shop, 1 into the cheese aging room (nothing happening here), and one into one room of ice cream shop. No explaination about how ice cream is made or anything like that. And no free samples at the end. This is basically a gift shop with a video and some windows.

We stopped in at Cow's for an ice cream at their new Milky Way address. While in the shop we noticed a free factory tour. We decided to try it out because the price was right. It's a self guided tour and starts with a quick movie about the Cows Ice Cream story. From there you can see another brief video and story board on how those colorful and whitty Cows T-shirts are made. The was no production going on at the time of our visit but all of the equipment is there to see. Next a walk by the Ice cream room. Again no production but a large wall of glass that lets you see into the prestine white room and all the stainless steel equipment needed to make Cows ice cream. Lastly, a quick view of the cheese room where the Cows award winning Cloth Wrapped chedder cheese is aging in the cool and low light. Although there was not a lot in motion we learned about how Cow's values their product, employees, and brand and how this allowed the company to grow from humble beginnings to what is a memorable experience for us Island Visitors that now includes 32 ice cream varieties, cheese, and butter, and this amazing colorful T-shirts. If you have a few minutes it's worth dropping in.

I am from New York and have NEVER been to a place that weighs your ice cream. For what they charge for a sm. cone , that is an insult.
