Would highly recommend the potato tour or what is named as the tater, tractors and tales tour over the potato museum (love the use of alliteration in the tour name btw), especially if agricultural tours are your thing . We had the pleasure of learning about the potato farming process and equipment from different eras, which Peter and his father had amazingly collected over the years and restored themselves.

You might think that for 75$ it is an expensive tour, but the tour was engaging, interactive and most especially comprehensive. We lucked out having a private tour (unintentionally) with Peter and Brett who were so incredibly welcoming, honest, friendly, and most knowledgeable about the best eats in town and more importantly potato farming. They not only shared many interesting tidbits regarding potato farming both past and present, but they also had a ton of other interesting equipment like marine engines (which we were allowed to get going ourselves) and wood splitters.

We unfortunately did not take any pictures as we are not generally picture type of people, but to whoever is reading this review, that just means you will have to go see it for yourself.

The only thing that was missing was being able to eat some potatoes at some point during the tour! That would take this already A+ tour to A++

Thank you Brett and Peter!

We did the Sensational Sandcastles through Experience PEI:

Such a rewarding experience. Maurice captivated my kids (and passers by), explaining how to make the most amazing sand castles. He does such an excellent job explaining and showing the kids, getting in there helping them make their visions become a reality. He brings all the tools and knowledge, and you just have to bring your imagination (and some sun screen!)

This is the kind of thing you and your kids will remember for the rest of their lives. I can't recommend it enough. My kids were already talking to their cousins about how they learned from a "sandcastle expert" and are going to show them.

Maurice also has his art in a gallery in Avonlea village which is totally worth a look as well. His painting are stunning.

So tasty! We enjoyed the Mussel & Lobster Boil evening with Jim Conohan. He taught us so much about the complexities of mussel fishing - we have a whole new appreciation for it. Who knew Eastern PEI is the tuna capital of the world, too! So ask Jim about his prize catch, if he doesn’t volunteer it!

We totally enjoyed our experience with Jim Conahan for the Lobster and Mussel Shore Boil. Our timing in PEI was terrible with the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona. We were flying home out of Charlottetown so we had no choice but to be there. Unfortunately and understandably everything was closed because of the power outage and other Experience PEI events had no choice but to cancel but Jim was determined to provide us with this wonderful experience. He had a generator going and it was obvious that he had tried to clean up as many fallen trees as he could have so we could have a great experience. The information about the mussel and lobster industry was so interesting and the hands on preparation was fun. The food was absolutely everything we had hoped for.

We did a sandcastle building lesson in North Rustico with Maurice. It was AMAZING!!! 10/10 high recommend to anyone! The beach was gorgeous, Maurice is so kind and patient and a great teacher. We made an epic sandcastle with him! We also went to see his artwork in the gallery at Avonlea Village which was breathtaking. He was teaching kids there watercolour painting outside which was so sweet. He’s one of a kind! Maurice was the highlight of our trip and I am so happy we booked our experience with him!

Building sand castles with Maurice was one of the highlights of our trip. Maurice took the time to show us the basics of sand castle building and then let us have at it. I was worried going in that the two hour time would get long but the time flew by as "a sand castle is never really finished". I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves to work with their hands! Also, Maurice was very personable and made the experience an enjoyable one. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

We used Experience PEI to help us organize The Island Walk for our group. This walk is fairly complicated between shuttles and lodging. I highly recommend getting help if you are doing the walk or portions of the walk, and I recommend Experience PEI. Bill set up a wonderful trip for us. We had great accommodations and shuttles with no problems.

We had the most amazing dinner and time with Jim at the lobster boil at the shore!
Jim is full of knowledge, he explains all the hard work and time that goes into getting us those delicious mussels and lobsters.
He said he was certain we were about to have the best mussels around, and he wasn’t wrong!
It was truly the highlight of our trip to your beautiful island. We will most definitely do this again!

Beachcombers Clam Boil was such an incredible experience. Jim taught us how to dig for clams and oysters on his beach. The. He cooked us mussels, and served us salad, as well as all the shellfish he collected. He shared stories and history of the island, making this a very interesting and unique experience! 10/10 would recommend!!

We went on the Taters, Tractors and Tales experience and had a wonderful time. Potato farming is much more involved and difficult than we imagined. Our guide, Robert, was fantastic. He told us about the history as well as modern farming, and has old machinery to demonstrate.
Anyone wanting to do something slightly different should go on this experience!

We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your time on the Robert's farm! We agree, there is so much more to farming then we can imagine! Thank you for your review and we hope to see you again soon!
