Neighborhood: Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

I went here around 8-9pm and it was so calming! It was actually so nice to be looking over the water. The moon was shining bright and I could view the planes flying in and out of the airport. The opposite side of the water, is the city and you can view the CN tower lit up over the city. It was super relaxing for me. I dont think this would be a place I'd go in the summer or anything to relax, but to walk down at night was real peaceful for me

We visited in the winter so obviously the park isn’t at its most welcoming. Although it was nice to walk in the snow. You can see planes taking off just across the water from Toronto City Airport.
It’s something we would certainly like to see again if we visited Toronto again in the summer months.

From Toronto Music Garden, we headed east of Queens Quay W towards HTO Park. Before getting there, however, we first had to pass HTO Park West. Since we timed our visit in early April, the trees are understandably bare and the grass is thin and patchy. The only good thing I could say about HTO Park West is that its south end has a great view of the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport landing strip. The few minutes we stood there we watched 2 small airplanes land. There is a drinking fountain located near Queens Quay W but it was not working.
After passing the tall ship, Caledonia, anchored off the waterfront, and the Toronto Fire & Marine Station next to it, we continued on to HTO Park, touted as Toronto’s urban beach. It also has the slightly rolling green lawns of HTO Park West as well as the weeping willow trees and the paved walking loop paths, but its south end has a sandy beach (swimming not allowed), lots of yellow beach umbrellas and a few beach chairs.
Tip: Unobstructed view of the CN Tower on the east side for those wanting to take a pic of this Toronto landmark.

I went to sit in the "beach" area at lunch with my nephew. The chairs and umbrellas are really nice, and the view of Toronto Island is quite lovely. Fun to watch the planes taking off and landing at the island airport too.
The main thing that disappointed me was just how dirty the sand was -- it was littered with cigarette butts, and small pieces of garbage. Not a spot I'd want to walk barefoot. If that could be cleaned up regularly (especially during the busy summer tourist months), it'd be a nicer spot to visit.

It's one of the best spots in downtown as per me. You can see the Billy bishop airport on one side and great views of the city on another . Plus the waterfront and canoe rentals . Must visit !

The waterfront is a nice place to walk but it was very disappointing that after a 40 minute drive to the waterfront we found there was no artisan market that we specifically went to see.

Part of a nice walk on the waterfront. Mini beach with comfortable lounge chairs attached to big umbrellas. Gorgeous view on the lake.

You're walking along the boardwalk and suddenly you come upon a park with trees and benches right next to the water.
It felt like an oasis.
We strolled under the trees and not just because it was 30 degrees and sunny.
Felt very relaxing.
Make sure you stop here.

Great spot along the Toronto waterfront to take a few minutes out of the hustle and bustle. Worth taking a few minutes to find.
