I stumbled across Novo Spa years ago and keep on coming back regularly. Excellent massage therapists and estheticians. I also get gift certificates for friends and family. Elegant but not stuffy, lovely relaxing lounge areas and friendly staff. Highly recommend

This is my 3rd time visit and I keep coming back for more! Very clean spa with great customer service! Had a wonderful massage and love their new hot towel therapy , you feel like a new person :) certainly recommend it. If its your 1st time visit make sure you get there 5-10 minutes earlier as you have to fill some medical forms. Also make sure you book a 45 mins massage minimum as 30 mins is too short .

This is a lovely spa-- great atmosphere, lovely facilities. My massage therapist was also really good, and I left feeling relaxing and rejuvenated. Would definitely go back!

I was gifted the Ladies Spa Day Package. It included a Massage, Facial and Mani/Pedi.
Massage was fantastic - really knew where I needed the most work. Facial was good - products were scented beautifully.
My downfalls came with the Mani + Pedi and the overall spa experience.
My mani and pedi polish completely came off the next day + it was shellac! Really wish I didn’t waste all the time doing that.

Pre-Pandemic I had visited Novo Spa and had a great experience. I was disappointed that a lot of things were not communicated to me before arriving.

There was no robe given to change into and no showers open to use. Constantly having to change into my clothes after each service, really uncomfortable.
Having to go out into the main lobby and wait for the next service really took away from my overall experience of a “spa day”.

Because I attended on a long weekend the grocery store was closed + my lunch that wa s included was missed and I was not allowed to eat it in the spa as the lounge was closed and would have to take it to go.

Good but just not GREAT this time around.

Worst Spa Experience ever!

After driving for at least 45 mins to get there since I was invited by my brother's girlfriend, I was whisked away into the change room with a robe that was too small, it said it was one size fits all but of course that doesn't apply if you are a plus size person who's in Yorkville...

So I changed and tried to get comfortable in a robe, and took a towel to cover up my body a bit while I felt like soon I was going to pop open like a badly wrapped Christmas gift. When I sat down, in the lounge chair I was so tense I couldn't even relax because I was so conscious of my body that I had to get up. However once I did, I noticed that the slippers the receptionist had given me were gone! I looked for someone to assist me... I waited and waited....

Normally I'm a very patient person because of the kind of work that I do, I have to be patient but the amount of time that I'd waited was over an hour and my brother's girlfriend was finished her massage. Had I known her better (this was the second time meeting her) I would have really given the spa [--]. I never did get my massage and the receptionist "Sandra Marrocco" (not sure about the spelling) some how tried to blame us for us by the booking of the appointment saying something how we had didn't mention that we're a couple (wtf)? and how we should have told them that we were coming together. First of all I told her I already had mentioned to them how my "friend" was there and when I had asked them if they had seen her no one could assist me. My "friend" had told them how I was on my way and that she'd meet me down there. No one asked me if I wanted anything, if I was comfortable, if I needed a glass of water, a magazine nothing. There wasn't any services at all. Plus I never did get my massage.

Then the truth came out... apparently the RMT who was supposed to be assisting me never did come to work... I was thinking to myself couldn't you have told me that way back like an HOUR ago?

I was the one who had to do all the foot work. I had to come find someone to find a plus size robe after the receptionist gave me that other one, I had to get my own magazine and tea.... I had to go find some slippers after they were taken from me. It was the worst experience that I had ever had and that made me more tense than ever!!!

Well at the end of all that, we went up to pay at the cash for my brother's girlfriend's services and she had been given a gift certificate. Well basically they had said they'd already put it on the account. Under our names when I had said we want to speak to the manager she said she was in India and to contact the owner. When they asked me what my number was I told them they already had my information and that they could look me up into the computer.

Wouldn't it make sense that if the leftover money was already in the account that the computer would have that information?

Well my information was never put into the computer according to them... so I really wonder if they even put my appointment for the massage in there or the money for one as well.

Had it been the fact that the money was not put into there... (or so they say through their lying eyes) I don't think I would ever be returning there and believe me... I don't think any one of you should too!

All of us at Novo Spa are genuinely sorry. This situation must have been frustrating for our guest. The purpose of the spa is to provide a relaxing experience and unfortunately it did not happen. As the owner of Novo Spa I wish to clarify some points: The massage was booked under a therapist that was coming to the spa to do only our guest’s massage. The Therapist did not come to work; he had an emergency situation and could not call us to let us know. Our guests can be at their leisure in the spa; at the tea lounge, saunas, and/or relaxing lounges. Guests sometimes even take a nap and do not want to be disturbed. We normally let them relax in the lounges. Our guest information was in the appointment book, what our Spa Coordinator wanted to do was to obtain her email address in order for our spa manager to be able to get in touch we her (our Spa Manager is currently overseas). In fact, early next day, I sent our guest an email and as I said to her, “sometimes an apology and promise to do better just are not enough” so I attached a Gift Card for a complimentary Guinot Spa Facial. We do have her money on account for her to use whenever she would like to. When a Wayspa Gift Certificate is provided for payment, the certificate has to be redeemed at If there is a positive difference, the money is kept on account under the guest's name. I have presented myself our sincere apologies to our guest. We regret what happened and have made the necessary corrective measures. We are constantly working towards providing our guests with excellent service and always take their feedback seriously. Thank you for taking your time to read this, Nora Londono Owner Novo Spa

Feb 2013 • Couples
We went for a couple massage on Feb 9. We were given a warm greeting by the reception staff and asked to fill out an information form. Once completed we were told to change into robes and meet in the "couples" room. This is where the spa experience fell off the rails. The Couple room we were directed to was actually the mens room. This room has four loungers, three of which were already taked by three loud gents. We stood outside in the hall for about five minutes while staff ignored us. Eventually, one staff member directed us to an empty room to wait. Shortly thereafter a lady popped her head in asking for Anthony...we weren't. After a few more minutes another lady came in and asked if we were here for the couples massage and despite providing our names at check in and on the forms filled out at recpetion, got my gf's name wrong. We were then escorted into a "couples" massage room which was simply two separate rooms with the divider opened. We were about 12 feet apart and clearly in separate rooms. The dimmer in my roon wasn't working so I was massaged in fairly bright lighting. When I turned to lie on my back I was given an eye mask to block the light. I have now developed pink eye (yes, seriously) from the mask which frankly is disgusting. As we left, one of the massage providers suggested my gf try moksha yoga. We found this amusing since the form we filled out at reception asked for our occupations. My gf wrote in yoga instructor.
Overall, this was terrible experience. To top it off we were apparently mislead on pricing and apparently over paid. I strongly recommend steering away from this place.

Dear Bruce G.: Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to provide us your feedback regarding your recent visit for a couples massage. I apologize that your experience was less than satisfying. Our success is measured by our guests having a pleasant stay. We strive to provide excellent service and comfortable surroundings, and a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness at the spa. We always do our best to take appropriate steps to ensure all guests enjoy their stay with us. I would like to take the opportunity to respond to some of your concerns as you seem to have been deeply offended by some of our offerings and practices. We do have two relaxation lounges, a women’s lounge and a men’s/couples lounge, in between the two we have a tea lounge. These areas are typically explained during the spa tour given to first time guests. We do recommend for guests to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of services, so that guests can relax in one of the lounges, however if massages began shortly after guest’s arrival you will be directed to the lounge instead of taken on a full tour. I apologize that in this instance the lounge was occupied, I assure you that our guests experience and guests comfort is our first priority, which is why you were directed to the Tea Lounge just before your massage began. Mr. Bruce G. you seem quite upset about the arrangement of our couples room, this room is a conjoined room with two massage tables on either side of the room divider. The space between each massage table is exactly 6.5 feet; this space allows the two Massage Therapists to properly administer several different kinds of massages. I apologize if you had envisioned something different. I have been unable to find anything wrong with the dimmer switch in your particular massage room; therefore I am led to believe that you did not ask for the lights to be dimmed, which the therapist could have certainly done for you by request. Our Registered Massage Therapists are all trained and certified in Massage Therapy, they are Registered Medical Practitioners that truly care about the well-being of our guests. Post massage the RMT’s will often offer their professional recommendations for at home remedies such as yoga, stretching, baths with Epson salts, etc. These recommendations are not meant to be taken as a joke, rather an extension of their service and expertise. Mr. Bruce G., while I appreciate you taking the time to provide your comments, I do question the legitimacy of your claims regarding your payment; from what I can see you were charged the regular price for our 60 minute couples massage, which is the same price listed on our website and advertised in our menu. The final point that I would like to address is your claim regarding the eye infection that you had. The particular eye infection commonly known as ‘Pink Eye’ is a bacterial infection that can be contracted by several different causes, most commonly making hand contact with your eyes. Our relaxation eye masks are never placed directly on our guests face, they are covered before contact is made. I would like to state that Novo Spa goes above and beyond to meet and exceed all required environmental health policies as set by Toronto Public Health. In addition to prioritizing these regulations we have our own hygienic and sanitary policies and procedures in place, in order to provide the highest standard of well-being for our valued guests. -Emily Harradine, Guest Relations Manager

This was my first time at this spa. This spa is located in Yorkville which you automatically assume it will be a wonderful experience & great service. It was my birthday and wanted to treat myself to a spa day. Unfortunately I made the wrong decision and chose the wrong spa. I had booked an appointment for a massage, manicure and pedicure prior to coming and specifically told the guy whom I was speaking to that it was going to be my birthday. My whole day at the spa had gone by and there was no lunch as advertised on their website. When I asked at the end about the lunch, they told me i could choose either a salad, sandwich or smoothie. I decided on the smoothie and 5 minutes later the girl at reception brought me an Arthurs smoothie from wholes foods (approximate cost $2) across the street. I couldn’t help but laugh. I spent $224 at the spa and that's all they could provide me with on my birthday really? In addition, the robes were huge and oversized and made the entire experience an uncomfortable one. I’m sure this spa has ripped off enough clients to afford decent sized robes to cater to different people. Last but not least, I had opted for the French manicure and they charged me an extra $10 for this. The girl who did my nails did a horrible job as all my white tips were not straight. Looks like something my little sister could of done. This spa is not professional at all and does not belong in Yorkville. I’ve been to many spas and this is by far the worst one I’ve ever been to. The money I spent, I felt that I was definitely ripped off and it was certainly not worth it. I will never visit this spa again and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I would suggest Elmwood Spa. They could learn a thing or two from Elmwood.

We appreciate the right of our guests to express their concerns and dissastifaction with services received at Novo Spa. We respect their comments, and always use guest feedback to continually improve and maintain a high standard of service at the spa. In this particular case, the guest did not specify it was her birthday at the time of booking, which is why she wasn't offered the birthday lunch till after she asked for it after her services. As far as the bath robe is concerned, it is common industry practice to offer "one size fits all" robes. We do keep a few smaller and larger sizes, to accommodate guests who request for those. Again, the guest did not say anything about the robe size till the day after her visit. If she had mentioned it when she was at the spa, we would have happily offered her a smaller one. The manicure was done by an esthetician with more than 15years of experience, who has never had a complaint before. However, we took her feedback in a constructive way, making sure we reviewed any necessary corrective measures, and in this case we immediately reimbursed the cost related to the manicure. Lastly, the guest did not mention the quality of the one hour massage and the one hour pedicure (representing 2/3 of the time she spent at the spa), which we are sure were excellent.

My husband and I went to Novo Spa on Oct 19th, I got the taste of heaven package for my husband birthday...60 min rmt massage, 15 minute foot scrub and 20 minute color therapy shower....the total cost was $320.92(including taxes). Our appointment was 6:15 but our massage therapist Tanya and Michelle were late...and did not come get us until 6:25...after they explained how to use the shower, and after we was 6:30. Our massage and foot scrub ended early at 7:30...The massage was just okay!

Horrific experience at Novo Spa. This was supposed to be a super relaxing birthday spent at the spa and turned out to be the most unpleasant experience. DO NOT COME HERE! There are literally a million other more qualified spas in the city of Toronto. My boyfriend booked me a full day spa at this ridiculous establishment and even though the services were fine, the experience at the end ruined the whole day that was meant to be a treat. When my boyfriend booked he gave whoever took the reservation his credit card information, because this was a gift. When I go to hand in the keys, I was told that I had to pay for the bill. I inform the lady in reception that this is supposed to be a gift, she says it hasn’t been paid for yet and tells me the price owed. I inform her that I heard my boyfriend give his cc info and she just couldn’t be bothered to listen and just wanted to be paid the money. Not bothering to find a solution like call my bf that made the reservation, to get his cc info for the authorized payment, or call him to clarify the misunderstanding. Just totally rude with a horrific attitude that should not be working in the service industry. A bill over $500 and you don’t have the decency to treat customers with respect. I will not be returning to this establishment and anyone reading this shouldn’t either, do not waste your money, there are much better spas with actual good service all around the city. I called my boyfriend upset after the incident and he called the spa to rectify the situation and got hung up on, for a better idea on how customers are treated here. He tried calling back and no one picked up. To management the girl at reception that took my payment is the worst person to be working in the service industry, reconsider her employment as she’s taking money away from your business. I’ll be spreading the news to any and all friends and colleagues. Instead of leaving relaxed and calm after a full day at the spa I left agitated and upset, thanks Novo Spa and thank you for the garbage service at reception.

Dear Ofekena, Thank you for taking the time to provide us your feedback. It is with great disappointment that I heard of your experience with us. Please accept my sincerest apology. What occurred that day was a misunderstanding between both parties. At the time of booking the appointment we should have been more clear with your boyfriend that if he wanted to pay for your services, we would have needed a written authorization. As you know that day we did clarify the situation as promptly and smoothly as possible. We have reviewed your feedback with all of our front desk team in order to learn from this experience. Once again me sincerest apologize for the misunderstanding. Yours in Wellness, Gabriel Fernandez- Spa Manager

Having been to many spas across the world, and after lots of travelling, i craved for a moment of absolute relaxation.

So I chose this spa based on its highest ranking and numerous raving reviews on Tripadvisor: maybe due to this i expected more, some extra care, superior service, attention to details.
I'll pass on the overall look of the spa which is a matter of taste, i'll just say it's fine but not luxury. I'll prefer to base my review on what matters most to me.

From a practical point of view first. In the locker room, upon entering i struggled a bit with the idea of having a dozen lockers but only one shower, and actually i was proven right because while i was showering another customer came asking if there was someone in there... not super relaxing is it... And that guy seemed a bit surprised too that there was only one shower. Or, that may be a detail but the blow dryer was just way too old: worryingly noisy, with a inner screw burning red at the edge as i was blowing my hair, i really feared the thing would explode in my hand, no kidding. Please, change it, that's really not up to a high standard spa.
Another thing that actually never happened to me before in any spa, is that as i was changing a female staff knocked on the door and asked if she could come in... actually to me if a staff hears that there's a customer inside, (s)he should just wait until the customer's done and gone to enter and take care of business. To me that's the standard in a high end spa.

Again on the pratical side, why is the women lounge in front of the men entrance, and the men lounge on the other end where the women spa entrance is? Not only it doesn't make sense, but it's also very inconvenient, and it made female customers i crossed path with uneasy too. Not to mention it's like a bunch of people wandering around in the corridor not really knowing where to go... that kills the 'special' feel and quietness.

Service wise, again i expected super friendliness and extra care, it was not really the case. i was asked to come earlier, but after getting changed as i got out there was no one to wait for me or show me around, so i ended up wandering along that corridor not knowing where to go, i couldn't stay in the women lounge and there was a couple in the men lounge so i didnt want to ruin their experience... and during that whole time i crossed path with numerous therapists, none of them bothered to greet me, ask me if i needed anything, they didn't to direct me somewhere.
No welcome drink, i was just given a glass of water when the treatment was finished, which again i drank in the corridor.

The massage treatment was not bad, but nothing memorable. I came in with a neck pain and left with it.

Well, when spending 200 dollars for a massage i have to say i expect excellency. That wasn't the case in terms of service, treatment, and i can't say the spa itself had any 'Wow' effect on me. I would have loved to enjoy this spa and i really expected to, sadly it wasn't really the case.

Dear Eric L Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding your recent visit to Novo Spa. Though this is not typical of our level of service, it is with feedback such as yours that allow us to always refine the experience we offer our valued guests. As I mentioned in response to your partners’ review above, I wish we had been made aware of your concerns on your first visit to Novo Spa and we could have had the opportunity to discuss and resolve them when you returned the following day for follow-up appointments. I would like to take this opportunity to address some of your concerns. Thank you for bringing to our attention the hair dryer in the men’s change rooms, it is the latest ion/ceramic technology, but it seems to be faulty so replaced immediately. Being as our Spa Attendants are all female, we knock and ask if we may come in prior to entering our gentlemen's locker room. We consider this necessary as the privacy and respect for our guests is a top priority. We do have two relaxation lounges, a women’s lounge and a men’s/couples lounge, in between the two we have a tea lounge. These areas are typically explained during the spa tour given to first time guests. Our guests do enjoy sharing the areas with other guests. I am sorry that you did not take advantage of relaxing in one of our lounges so we missed the opportunity to offer one of our tea blends, snacks or infused water. As I mentioned, our success is measured by our guests overall experience and our ultimate goal has been always to achieve complete customer satisfaction. I apologize that you felt we did not meet your expectations. I would love to have the opportunity to discuss further with yourself or your partner Jan L. N. Londono - Owner
