Maybe It was an Off Night
Sep 2019
Second floor with a tiny bar and makeshift stage (no elevator). VERY low budget decor. Dirty floor. The "comedy" show we saw was truly worse than high school stand-up. Limited bar, no food. Ground floor bar also has no food, Washrooms on the third floor, as was some other show whose music could be heard clearly during our show. The "comics" literally read from their notes. I'm REALLY glad I got a good deal on this. I won't be returning

Had a hilarious evening

So happy i found this place. My partner and I love comedy and stand-up in-particular so to find this little gem was awesome for us. Its a stones throw from Broadview Station and is on three floors, each having a bar and its own thing going on. We were here for the monthly stand-up gig which featured Ben Beauchemin, Faisal Butt, Cara Connors, Alex Wood and Marc Hallworth. All this for only $10 was a steal and i can't wait to come back next month for another show. The drinks at the venue are very good. The Amsterdam Boneshaker is becoming a personal favourite of mine.

"Casual-Cool" Spot for Comedy
Jul 2017 • Friends
It was my birthday, and on a Tuesday night of all nights.
I scanned the web for something to do after dinner with friends.
Up pops the So Cap with Herbeavers Bush Party Comedy show.
O.K....so I'm an old white guy but I like my comedy intelligent and edgy but I was a bit worried that (given their name) that this troupe might be a little too raunchy....I was pleasantly surprised.
This group of four young women do smart sketch comedy that had us laughing out loud several times. I commented to my friends that they were funnier than some of the shows at Second City and definitely funnier than most of the stuff on SNL....I will follow these guys for future shows.
The So Cap is upstairs at The Black Swan. It it unpretentious, has a bar and reasonable cover and drinks prices. It feels as comfortable as an old shoe.
This place used to have nightly rock bands playing and that has gone the way of all things.
I'm glad this space as found a new life and I will follow their schedule for future events....especially comedy!

Lots of Laughs
Apr 2017
Happened to drop by during a fundraising show supporting resources for mental health. It was an all female cast and they were hilarious. It's a small intimate space and the building has and old rustic charm. I was surprised that the bar in/attached to the performance stage only serves liquor and chips. Make sure you get food before or after the show, there are plenty of restaurants in the area.

This place feels like home to me, the bar staff are always so friendly and hilarious, Carmine is a joy, and the improv night is definitely my favourite night to go. 5 stars!
