Ghosts, graveyards, hangings and haunts. From the old military town of York to the metropolitan city of today, discover Toronto's darker history. Stroll along the haunted cobblestone streets of the historic Distillery District by lantern light. Visit the old hanging grounds near the St. Lawrence Market, where many a rebel, and perhaps a few innocent souls, met with a gruesome end.

This was a fun and different way of experiencing an unfamiliar city. We took our two kids and they enjoyed it too. The guide was a great storyteller and you could tell he was very invested in the finding great stories and evidence to share on the tour. A lot of fun. I would definitely recommend it.

We got to see areas of downtown Toronto that we had never seen before. Very interesting. Pasquel (not sure of spelling) was very good and added a dramatic touch to the stories.

We had a family "girls" weekend in downtown Toronto on August 20/16. One of the activities we chose was the Haunted Walk. It was most enjoyable and interesting with fascinating historical facts. Carolyn, our guide, was wonderful, providing a very animated commentary at each stop along the route. Even though I have lived in the Toronto area all my life,... More

A fun, old-fashioned stroll through years of Toronto gone-by, filled with a nice balance of spook stories and interesting city history too. Great value, and our tour guide was especially engaging and knowledgeable. Make sure to wear comfortable footwear too!

I took two 1.5-hour tours with Haunted Walk. The first was the "Time Travel" tour with an entertaining and knowledgeable "pirate captain" played by Dwayne. He led the three of us through the center of Toronto, bringing us to sites where important events occurred and then, using a device with a lot of flashing lights and having us shake the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our haunted evening with Caroline as our guide and story teller. Fascinating tales of Toronto from bygone years I had never heard. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Toronto. Get the girls together and book. Hoping to perhaps do a Halloween one next.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
