I did not get to go inside because there were so many seemingly homeless people blocking the door. I was followed by several people asking for money. I just felt uncomfortable in this space, which is unfortunate because it has a park like setting and looks like it could be quite nice. I wouldn't really wander back that way. It... More

Metropolitan United Church has a long history. It hosts many non-religious events. We attended a "Kirtan Wallah". For such a large sanctuary there was no noticeable echo that one might expect. If you visit this church take time to examine the reredos behind the altar; it is very ornate and detailed. The altar itself has a relief of the last... More

We attended a wedding in the wonderful sanctuary of this church. Huge, picturesque, large columns, tiled floors yest warm and calming. I felt very welcomed and comfortable and relaxed as we waited for the bride to arrive and the ceremony to start. Some churches can be cold and not too approachable but you could wonder at will and explore without... More

The musical experience the choir offers week after week is outstanding! Though the Met choir is such a standout, there are so many more and varied musical offerings at the Met contributing to its unique ablity to celebrate life and worhsip through beautiful music. Sermons outstanding, the total production of some Sunday services are worthy of charging for!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
