I came in to see Susierra with a persistent and nagging shoulder (Deltoid) problem. Painful with certain movements. Susierra clearly has a healing touch. Her techniques, gentle yet penetrating. She found and untangled knots that I did not know I had. The relief was palatable and continues to last. I certainly will be back for another magical treatment. Wayne

I have been to several places for massages, and have chosen to book with Advanced Approaches repeatedly for our family massages. Su and Emil are our favourites, but we have had success with other RMTs there as well. They are very professional and talented with in their massage techniques. Well done!

I've had many a massage in many a city and country over the years, and this ranks right up there with the very best of them. A warm and friendly reception was surpassed only by the great massage that I received at this local spot n the Upper Beaches of Toronto.

I shall definitely be back and would heartily recommend others to do the same.

I went to Advanced based on a referral and requested an RMT who unfortunately was not available at the last minute. I was rebooked with the owner and when I arrived for my much need massage, I was handed off to another RMT without any communication to me. The RMT who did the massage showed up without my chart and was not aware of the back issues I was having (and noted on my chart) and then at the end of the massage, just left the room with no word whatsoever. I was not impressed with the service or the massage. I will not be returning or referring this place. Also, the furniture in the reception area is well worn and does not present well.

I went for a first time massage recently and although I will say that after a fairly awkward and somewhat bizarre initial exchange, Su did proceed to give me a massage. At the outset, Su asked me what level of pressure I would like so I responded that I would like to try a "medium" pressure and go from there - not too hard, not too soft. Unfortunately, for first 15 minutes, Su was only lightly caressing my back. As I lay there wondering when the ACTUAL massage would begin, I decided to delicately suggest "Oh you can probably go a bit stronger." Su immediately bristled and responded by saying "Well, I'm renowned for my deep tissue work." I, in turn, responded that I wasn't questioning her ability, I was simply asking her to massage a bit stronger." Again, she seemed pretty annoyed with that request and mumbled something about how I had asked for "medium." I answered that again I wasn't trying to be difficult but that in my past massage experiences, massage therapists generally apply pressure and check in every so often to ensure if you want to go stronger or lighter (especially on the first visit!). She proceeded to tell me that if I wanted it stronger, I had better be prepared for it to hurt a lot more. From there she started to dig in a bit and although there were points where it did hurt a bit, mostly it was tolerable. That said, apart from the earlier hostility, she was really cold towards me throughout, very detached and very much came across as someone who just wanted to get out of there. I think the overall takeaway here for anyone reading this is that in my humble opinion, a massage should be a RELAXING experience. Certainly the actual massage itself should FEEL good but the whole overall vibe and energy in the room is so important too. All of it contributes to the patron walking out feeling relaxed with all their mental and physical tension having melted away.

When Su finished my massage she basically just told me I could get dressed and walked out of the room. That was it, I never saw her again. I got dressed, left the clinic and felt no better than when I first arrived. If anything, I was even a bit wound up just because I couldn't believe I'd just spent $100.00 hard earned dollars on such an unpleasant experience.
**A note about the cost. I was asked to pay up front for the service which in 25 years of getting massages, I have never been asked to do. When I questioned the receptionist about this upon arriving I was told "We don't want you to have to think about money once you are feeling relaxed after your massage." This was strange to me and also had me questioning afterwards if maybe they just get a lot of first timers who never come back so they just take the money and run (so to speak). Additionally, outside of exclusive full service spas, I have also found most massages in clinics to range from $75.00 per hour to 90.00 per hour. Su charges $100.00. Again, had the massage and overall experience been a good one, I would've thought her expensive but would have swallowed the price without a peep. After all, sometimes you do get what you pay for. Not in this case though. Not only is this too much money for a visit to Su, it's about 100.00 too much. I won't go back here and I would not recommend it to anyone ever.

Please accept our apologies, as we thought this response was posted a long time ago! We greatly appreciate your feedback, unfortunately, we did not receive this information during our routine follow up phone call which we make to every new client, to ensure that they had a positive experience, and to take immediate action to attempt to remedy negative experiences. I would like to gently address the following inaccuracy. You have stated that our price range is higher than average. While we are not allowed to post links, if you search for the Fee Schedule of the RMT Association of Ontario, it states that $102 (HST included) is suggested for a 60 minute treatment, at $99 per hour we charge less than the suggested fee. With regard to being asked to pay up front. Many facilities make this request; our purpose for requesting payment in advance is to ensure that you continue to feel relaxed and not rushed after your massage treatment. We want everyone to feel their best when they leave our clinic. There is a special relationship between an RMT and their client; not every pairing is a good "fit." We would hope that a negative experience with one therapist on one day would not reflect negatively on the clinic as a whole. As this review is unsigned/anonymous, I don't know who I am addressing, and would encourage you to contact us at (416) 694-6767 or info@advancedapproachesmassage.com as I would like to offer you a complimentary chair massage with another member of our team. Thank you again for your feedback.

I had a massage by Su earlier this month and this was a horrible experience. She was rude, and unprofessional. People say she has the magic touch but I would have to disagree. Her massage was not relaxing, probably one of the worst massages I've ever experienced. Just wanted to share my experience with you all.

For more than 2 years now, I have been struggling with a collapsing chest. This causes a great deal of arm and shoulder pain. I’ve had a multitude of tests, I’ve been to chiropractors, physiotherapists and fancy downtown clinics, and then I was introduced to Su Willson. Su is the owner of Advanced Approaches to Massage on Kingston Rd. After four sessions with Su, I finally feel relief! My range of motion has improved immensely, and my pain is manageable and seems to be subsiding!
The clinic isn’t fancy or pretentious, it is quiet and warm with a neighbourhood charm. Sometimes smaller is better say. I have found my diamond in the rough.

Su and her colleagues are professional and effective therapists. Su ensures that her clients needs are understood and then works to reach the goal, whether it is pain- or stress-reduction, or increased mobility. Thank you to Su, Emil and everyone else for the care and attention to your clients

I've experienced a variety of therapists over the years and I must say Su is by far the best. She worked my lower back like no one has before, and opened my chest where I'm breathing fully again. I felt clear and energized after the treatment and can't wait to go back to experience Su's magic again.

When I came to Advanced Approages to Massage, my main complaint was tension in the shoulders and neck. Now, after seeing Su Willson, my shoulders are no longer up to my ears.
