Our guide was Wellesley and we had five stops. It started at 11:00 and ended close to 3:00. It started slow, with too much introduction and a forgettable apple pie. Then it picked up - both the pace and the food. Really tasty cactus sandwich. The Chinese food was fairly typical, but the food they chose helped us be more... More

We started the morning in Toronto with a food tour. Our guide, Ian is a former restauranteur and was able to answer the questions we threw at him. We stayed in the king and queen west area. This area is being billed as trendy but from an outsider it looks like it is going through growing pains and many new... More

What a lovely way to spend an evening. We caught the last tour for the 2016 season. For anyone, locals, like our family, or tourists, this is a novel way to see the Toronto Islands and have a delicious meal. I expect it would be great fun to get a group together to celebrate an occasion,or just as a get... More

Ian was a tremendous host & guide for our St. Lawrence Market tour in Toronto. He didn't just know the area & the history of the area, he knew FOOD. Fascinating to learn from such a knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. AND - we did not leave hungry!! :) Very highly recommend!

We always make a point of taking a food tour in any new city and this was one of the best! Ian was a fantastic host - anyone who greets me with a croissant in his hand is in my good books straight away. It was a ridiculously hot day, so for the historic walking tour bit, Ian made sure... More

In late July, we spent 3 hours with Kevin and a small group of fellow visitors eating our way through the less visited neighborhoods of Riverside and Leslieville in Toronto. We chose this tour because of that. We started at Mary McCleod's Shortbread Shop for a sample of her world renowned shortbread cookies made right on the premises.Yummy! Then we... More

We had a super tour of St. Lawrence Market and the neighbourhood with our amazing guide Ian. He was knowledgeable, patience and funny. We munched our way through more than a dozen yummy samples from the Market vendors. Later we headed back to buy from some of the stalls. We did NOT need a lunch after our visit with Ian.... More

Did the Riverside & Leslieville tour and loved it. We made several stops for delicious treats and had a sit-down lunch at Tabule. The whole day was rich in both flavour and in history; our tour guide Ian had so many fascinating tidbits about Leslieville. Great way to get to know the city better, even if you live here!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
