The 4 of us packed blankets, towels, balls and a basket full of great food and drinks. Left early parked close and walked to the Ferry, decided to take a water taxi which was so much fun, it was like our own boat!! Once we got to the Island we figured out where we wanted to set up which was... More

Absolutely beautiful, and it has a great little restaurant called The Rectory Cafe. Easily one of the best patios in the city

Even for locals! This is a fun outing to"get out of the city" so to speak! Catch the Ferry from Toronto heading to WARD Island & plan to have lunch or dinner at the Refectory Cafe. They have great outdoor garden space as well as indoor if it rains. The menu has very good choices. After the meal from their... More

Great place to ride your bike, take walk, rent a boat. Easily accessed by the ferry. Great with little kids or couples finding a little respite from the hustle and bustle. I even sent my kids to camp there at the YMCA Toronto Island Camp and they loved it. Cannot miss if you are passing through, its our Central park!

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
