When I first read we were going to be celebrating a good friends bachelorette with a walking beer tour, I thought... Ok, bring comfortable shoes and take public transit... and not much else about it. Well, my expectations were wildly exceeded. Our guide, Mike, was incredibly outgoing, knowledgeable, accommodating and professional. He really tailored the tour to our group, as... More

We did two tours with Urban Adventures while in Toronto, the “Beer makes history better” and the “Chinatown and Kensington Market”. We had Mike as our guide on both tours and his blend of historical facts and local knowledge kept us engaged throughout. On both tours Mike ensured we got to meet with local characters, try local beers and food,... More

Hi Will, thank you for taking the time to write this review. Like I mentioned before, I had an absolute blast showing you and Jen around the city. It was an absolute pleasure to have some fellow Irish visit the city. The craic was mighty! I'm glad that you were able to get a good feel for Toronto and hopefully... More

Had a really wonderful time on this tour. The best part was our guide, David. He was not only knowledgeable, personable and entertaining, he also let the tour "breathe." Here's what I mean - my wife and I were getting on gangbusters with the other members of the tour group. At one of the stops, David got us going on... More

Hi duanel549, thank you for leaving this review. We are very pleased to hear that you had such an awesome time! David being "knowledgable, personable and entertaining" are the exact qualities that we look for in guides and the end experience we want you to take away from the tour. We always love it when our guests can interact and... More

What an absolute joy this tour was. Our tour guide David was so knowledgeable and his bubbly, friendly nature made this day one to remember. The tour lasted for 4 hours and consisted of a walk through the old original part Toronto. Front street, up to King street and then looping back down to Front street, through St Lawrence market... Hi Clare, thank you for taking the time to write this amazing review! I'm glad you enjoyed the tour, especially for someone who is not a beer drinker, it's always great when our guests come away with a new appreciation for beer! We would love to have you on another one of our tours and are looking into adding more... More

We took the Kensington Market and Chinatown walk with Mike. The group was small, only 5 people, and Mike did a great job of engaging all of us and answering questions. Rather than reciting facts, he had lots of wonderful stories about the venues we saw. In the market we tasted cheese, coffee, bagels, and popcorn.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Mike, who had an extensive knowledge of Toronto's history (both food and non-food related) and was truly interested in each one of us as tour guests - customising different segments according to our tastes and circumstances. In addition to running the traditional tour, Mike went out of his way to help each guest with... More

I'll start by saying that my husband & I were glad we took this tour for if we had walked these neighborhoods on our own it would not have been as interesting. The history we learned added a lot to our experience. Kensington Market was, for me, a combination of Haymarket Square in Boston and Haight Asbury in San Francisco.... More

While beer was part of this tour, it was great to learn many interesting facts about Toronto from tour guide Neil. I would recommend with friends to have a fun afternoon!

Mike was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. Even though 6 out of 10 of us were a little elderly, he kept it at a slower pace and allowed extra time to complete the tour. I would highly recommend this tour if you are interested in the inner diversity of a city. However, I would not recommend this for... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
