My wife and I took a tour earlier this month of Chinatown and Kensington Market. Mike, our tour guide, was amazing. He lives in the neighborhood and was able to show us his favorite places. His passion for his neighborhood was evident. During the tour he explained to us the history of both neighborhoods. We stopped in several of the... More

We had a very nice experience on a guided tour of the Kensington Market and Chinatown by a local guide named Mike. The guide was from the area which added to his knowledge of the local stores, street people, background on the local street art, history of the area etc. Mike was engaging, flexible, and humorous adding to the tour... Beer makes everything better but even without it this tour was well worth it. Great locations visited, excellent and fun historical info shared, and an excellent guide (Mike). He was inclusive and friendly and made sure everyone had a great time. As a solo traveler often I rely on these events to get to know the city and meet some... More

We've been on the "When Pigs Fry" tour with Jason, and this past weekend did the "Historical Beer Tour" with Mike. As with all of the tours from this company, there is a strong focus on education as well as having an absolute blast. To that end, you'll get out of it exactly what you put into it. If you're... My fiance and I loved the Beer Makes Better History tour. Mike our tour guide was knowledgeable and funny and brought us to some places in the city we had yet to discover. We are from the city but were looking for a fun date afternoon activity and this was perfect. The people in the group were great and social... More

We had a great day on the tour, would highly recommend it! Our tour guide Mike was absolutely the best, super funny and so full of Toronto facts. We're all from Toronto and still learned so much and saw a bunch of places we hadn't really been to before. Awesome job!

We did Kensington Market and China Town with Mike. What a breath of fresh air he was. He took his time and really pointed stuff out that we as toutists would NEVER have spotted. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommemd it. Thanks Mike, your humour and enthusiasm was appreciated.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
