Neighborhood: Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

    Better view at night
Water in summer, skate in winter in front of the city hall. They held lots of festivals/markets through the year, with different food and cultures to experience. The light up at night us beautiful, highly recommended a visit.

    Feel The Curve
Toronto City Hall is a pair of curved buildings. They are located on the Northern side of Nathan Phillips Square. On the Easter side is the old city hall which is an older building and more traditional design. The city hall buildings are quite striking and I would love to have an opportunity to explore them but I guess you would have to work for the city to have this chance.

    Interesting, modern architectural design
The modern "new" City Hall is an attractive complex with an interesting architectural design - two curved towers around a central domed building, said to resemble a giant unblinking eye from above! It is free to enter the foyer of the complex and I would suggest you do, if only to view the Metropolis on the right side wall of the foyer area. It is an intriguing art piece fashioned from more than 100,000 nails!

Currently at the City Hall area there is ‘Cavalcade of Lights’ which supposedly gives you the “magic of the holiday season”.
Now I will admit we arrived just before it became dark but OMG whoever organises this needs to visit Christmas markets in other countries because this market looks grim.
Unenthusiastic market stall holders, pathetic Christmas tree decorations, uninspired food.
Unfortunately there were several unwell homeless people gathering around the entrance which made the area seedy and unsafe.

This city sucks. Traffic is unbearable to drive in to or out of this Toronto.
TTC is useless with ridiculous street cars. Subway system is very outdated for such a populated huge city. The city planners who are responsible for all the condominium builds need to be forced to drive around the noisy, dirty, mostly inaccessible city I've ever seen.
I've driven in all the major cities in North Americ.
Toronto wins for being the worst.
Just go somewhere else.

OK. I know you probably thought that the old city hall reeked of Colonist Oppressive Architecture - but that said its a beautiful impressive building. What Canada has built instead is this horrific monstrosity with equally disgraceful concrete hotels suffocating what historic architecture was there. What a shame.

It was beautiful here...lots of places to take photographs. They have some tables and chairs to sit at if you want to grab a quick lunch. There are food trucks at lunch time so you can grab a quick burger fries hot dog etc. Loved the peace arches.

I walked outside near Toronto City Hall and took a photo of the Toronto sign and the buildings. It was a nice place to walk around outside. Next time I want to come here in the evening when the sign and fountains are lit up. The location is very good not far from the Eaton Centre.

We were staying at the Sheraton and had great views of City Hall from our room. Quite a modern and unusual shaped building. Found in the square with the large Toronto city sign with lake and fountain. Popular spot with tourists and must be photographed with the sign.

Toronto, capital of the province of Ontario, is a major Canadian city located along the shores of Lake Ontario. Dynamic metropolis, it has a nucleus of soaring skyscrapers dominated by the iconic CN Tower.
