Toronto’s island getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city! Just a short ferry ride from downtown, Centre Island is nestled between Ward’s Island and Hanlan’s Point. We rented bikes for three hours (you can get tandems and quad cycles too) near the Pier and rode the bike trails throughout the island. Apparently, during the summer months, you can... More

Have been there spontaneously on a sunny Sunday afternoon and the quite big island park was over my expectation! The waiting time at the ferry terminal was about 45 minutes but it was absolutely worth it. Stunning views of the Toronto skyline are guaranteed already on the short ferry ride to the Island which takes around 15 minutes. The return... More

We went early on a Sunday and the line was not too long but hours later the line for the ticket booth stretched all the way out to e street! We basically wanted to just ride the ferry over and back but you can get off, stroll around a bit and ride back.

Took ferry over, easy and affordable. Didn't expect the whole island to be so parklike with walking paths and gardens. Beautiful. Walked for hours and had lunch by the water. Lovely beachfront too, a nice city break with great views to be had.

Beautiful gardens and beaches following a nice walk. All well presented and maintained. I think this place is not promoted enough as it should be.

I took my son to the island for the day and trust me if you go in the summer it is faster to take the water taxi then the fury unless you are up really early to get one of the first ones. I have always gone to the island as a kid and it has not changed a lot... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
