Great place to visit, no matter you're a lone traveller, a couple or family with kids, Centre Island has something to offer. Centre Island is just a few minutes reach from the City by the Ferry (ticket costs CAD 7.50). The island gives you great city views. There are plenty of fun activities for young kids. You can also walk... More

beautiful area with too many things to do and see. It was easy to catch the ferry which was 7.50 per person roundtrip. We went to Ward and centre island, ward was smaller and less crowded on our day Both have fantastic views, walks beaches. Would go back again

Lovely warm day we went on the ferry out to the park. Very reasonable at $7 Dollars return on the ferry. Bring a packed lunch and a water bottle, plenty of fountains to fill it up again in the park. Lovely beach and can hire out bikes and boats, but no boats when we were there. Just missed ferry gong... More

Easily the busiest part of the Islands but it's where you rent the bikes/quad bikes etc. from and where the most picnicking is. The beaches here are busy but nice, and the tiki bars are good during the summer

Always enjoy our summer visits to the Toronto Island. A great day, walking around, going to the beach, relaxing and taking in the great views. Centreville is great for the kids. Ferry is a nice ride, but can get very busy, once on islands it's not as busy. Return trip included in the price.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Islands and had a great day, walking round, relaxing and taking in the great views. Lots to do for the family and for those like ourselves who just wanted to relax. Recommended. Although the ferry crossing was busy, once on the islands it was possible to get away from the crowds and find... More

Charming 50 year old amusement rides for kids, car-free, great views. Lots of places to walk, benches, and a few restaurants. You can take one of the private water taxis for $10/person and save time waiting and then take the big boat back to the mainland.

This was a short crossing on the ferry from Toronto. It was a peaceful haven. Lovely parkland to meander through a lovely beach for a swim or paddle be aware there is a nudist beach . We spent a couple of hours wandering but it would be well worth taking a picnic and beach towel and chilling for the day.... More

We ended up here accidentally when our harbour tour offered to drop us at the island and pick us up again on another tour trip. It was after the standard summer season so there were not as many people there which made it nice to walk around. The islands are covered with nice open park spaces and there are beaches... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
