Took a water taxi (didn't want to wait for ferry) out to Centre Island for the afternoon. Perfect place for some family fun. Took the kids on some rides first. Got over priced ice cream and bags of popcorn. Checked out the petting zoo. Then walked over to the beach. Played around in the water for a bit. The adults... More

Travelled twice to Centre Island. It is ideal for children as there is a fair on the island - rides, ices, animals etc, plenty to see and do for children. There are also several quieter areas for walking, some lovely planted areas and fabulous views. Access across the harbour by shuttle boat or water taxi.

I absolutely love this place. It is good for biking, for taking your kids, for a romantic day, for exercising, for sightseeing, for the beaches and even to eat and drink.

Toronto Centre Island is the perfect get-away for the day! The Ferry ride over is fun for everyone and not too long, and the Island has something for everyone. Centreville amusement park is a little old fashioned and run down, but the kids really love it and the Lights and Sounds Scrambler remains my favorite ride ever. If you don't... More

We took a water taxi to center island. You can go on a ferry for little to no money but we wanted to avoid the crowds and the trio only took 10 minutes. The downside is the taxi cost 10 Canadian per person. The island is a large park to explore. It has beaches but we just rented bikes. It... More

This is my favourtite place to go in Toronto. Just a short boat trip from the harbour and your over in the most serence place with amazing views of the city. SO much to do, hire bikes, go exploring, playground beach etc something for everyone and not an expensive day out. Highly recommend

Fantastic beach and swimming at Ward island, remember to take plenty of sun cream and ensure you find some shade or take your own beach brolly, there's not much shade on the beach at all. There are plenty of grassed areas adjacent to the beach, that offer shade under the trees and a toilet area and outdoor shower where you... More

if you are a Torontonian or a visitor, Centre Island is a must. Great beach, excellent place to rent a bike and ride with the family and you can grab lunch and enjoy the outdoors. Centreville is great for kids 3-10 years old - the rides keep them busy and the zoo is great for a walk. There are no... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
