I will not forget Toronto for Center Island comprising of 600 acres of Parkland!!! a sheer delight for Nature lover. I liked it better than even Hyde Park of London and Central Park of Manhattan. The lit up CN tower in the night from Westin hotel roof top restaurant is quite a view. so is the air strip in the... More

Probably one of my fav things of Toronto are the islands, and Centre Island is particularly great if you have young kids. It is the perfect scale, with lots of green space and place to safely run, picnic, etc., so you don't have to go far for a nice place to have a picnic or just relax and let the... More

The family and I hit the ferry for a respite from the summer sun and had a nice day for the most part. The ferry terminal is a bit of a mess and signage is poor; be sure to purchase your tickets online beforehand. Once aboard, the trip goes quickly and pleasantly. There's a wide range of activities to choose... More

Toronto Island is a lovely way to spend a day, with or without children. At the foot of Bay Street .You buy return tickets there. In the summer they have rides for children, Food kiosks available, beach for sunbathing.

We truly enjoy the ferry ride to Center Island. Once there we begin to enjoy the beautiful gardens and interesting activities offered to all visitors no matter their ages. Childrens rides, qiet strolls in the park and all sorts of foods to enjoy.

We always start to plan our summer with deciding when we will visit Toronto Island. We have gone every year since was my daughter was 2. She specifically loves Centreville. I would recommend a weekday so it's less busy. The rides are great for all ages. You have the wonderful start by taking the ferry across which provides you with... More

This is always a go to summer adventure for us. Take the ferry over, pack a picnic, wander around and hit Centreville.

One of Toronto's best ways to spend a day with the family or on a date. Short boat ride and you are there. Beautiful park, and views of the city.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
