We parked at the bottom and walked/ran up the road (10-15min) to the look out point, then continued to hike up the dirt path(located at the upper parking lot) up to the top(15-20min). This path was a bit muddy and slightly rugged in areas, so wear decent shoes! If you aren't interested in getting close and personal with wildlife we... More

While in Thunder Bay you have to go on a hike! If you don't have a lot of time a great place to go is Mount McKay! There is a scenic look out if you don't hike that is beautiful but the 2km hike is quick but a good workout! A native landmark worth the trip. Inexpensive.

What an incredible place to visit. Located on Fort William First Nation territory, it's worth the five bucks a car to get in. Drive right up the mountain to the edge of the cliff.

You can't not notice Mt. McKay from any part of the city. Take advantage of going to look out point and even better so,e of the hiking trails. Worth the trip.

Our second time to the mountainside and it didn't disappoint. we were sad that that the scaffoling was closed off to the public and hope it is being repaired soon. we went at sunrise and it was spectaular! what a complete view of the entire Thunder Bay City and Area.

It was an interesting activity. We had been to the historic fort earlier this day and had spoken to the characters about Mt. Mackay. As a result we knew some history of the site. We enjoyed the drive up and the $5.00 charge was well worth the view.

The mountain is on Indian land and you are only allowed about half way up. Beautiful view of Thunder Bay. The sign says, you miss Mt McKay, you miss Thunder Bay! Kind of cool to see the pow wow arena and other things associated with the First Nation tribe. Make sure to stope and read the banners when you first... More

We had a great hike up to the top of mount McKay. It provides an amazing view of the city, harbour, and Sleeping Giant. Be aware that the gates don't open until 10:00 am - so don't plan on an early hike. The hike is not that long - took us between 20 and 30 minutes to get to the... More
