It’s all aboard as you travel to the end of steel on 592-mile, round trip ‘Tour of the Line’ to the French Canadian community of Hearst, Ontario. Your journey begins at the Algoma Central Railway depot in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where you will board our regular passenger service for a day-long rail adventure that combines the rugged mixed forests of the Canadian Shield, experienced on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train, with the boreal forests of the Great Clay Belt region. In marked contrast to the mountainous Shield country, the Clay Belt region, home to the lordly moose, is a combination of level coniferous forests and great inland lakes teeming with northern pike and walleye.

This experience is an all day event. 7:30 to 6 pm The trains is well kept and well organized. The cars have a dining car between them. The serve breakfast and lunch for an additional fee. The train travels at 41 mph for most of the trip so taking photos is easy. It travels through mundane and beautiful areas. We... More

The scenery along the trip to Agawa Canyon is very pretty and the canyon itself is beautiful. The train ride out is 4 hours, you spend 1 1/2 hours in the canyon, then a five hour ride back. The train seats are uncomfortable for such a long journey and the trip back was very hot. The dining car service was... More

It is not this same tour as it use to be. Not much to see until arriving to Agawa Canyon. The landscape in the Canyon is an eye opener however time to spend 8 hour on the train to briefly glimpse canyon's beauty does not justify the effort. Perhaps in old days (20 yrs ago) trees were not blocking the... More

The Cdn north is something to behold. You will pass spectacular landscape and waterways. You will see lots and lots of trees so I suggest going in the fall to see the colours verse summertime. Also take your own food - the train offers a dinning car but prices for food are high. Box lunch is $16 for turkey sandwich,... More

Agawa Tour Train was one of the reasons we travelled to Sault Ste Marie. Booked tickets on line, picked up tickets at the Algoma Passenger Station the morning of our tour. Seated in the handicapped coach as friend used a walker and a lift was provided, We experienced a great train ride to the Canyon with detailed description of what... More

The trip into Agawa Canyon was very scenic. It was about 4 hours down to the look-out where the train stops and you disembark for about an hour and a half. you can bring a lunch or buy a box lunch (sandwich, pop and a cookie) $16.00, not worth that much. You can also eat on the train(breakfast and lunch).... More

Brochure looks great but the reality is different. Nor nearly as many vistas to make it worthwhile. We feel like we wasted a whole day of vacation for this trip. THe ride was nice and the seats were good, but it just didn't all add up for the " wonderful, scenic" trip as advertised. Agawa Canyon was nice, but the day... More

Lots of information on the trip out but nothing on the way back which makes the trip seem longer. Also be advised that they turn the seats around so if you have a lot of leg room on the way out you'll be cramped on the way back. Could have used another half hour at the stop. Be advised that... This is truly a stunning journey through one of Ontario's most beautiful areas. I plan to return in the fall when the leaves are in full colour. A great way to fill a day and interesting for the whole family.

Had booked this trip as part of our honeymoon and ended up wishing that we had not gone. We were at the train at 7:30 when we had been told the train would begin boarding. The train had already been boarded by most of the other passengers and there was only one set of seats that would allow us to... More
