We were able to tie up the Boston Whaler to a long ago friend’s sailboat for drinks, then head out to watch the fireworks. Fortunately no fog!

Canada 150 was supposed to be a massive party but long lines and bad weather plagued the day from being truly great. Canada day in Ottawa is still well worth the visit and hopefully they have learned from the mistakes that were made during 150.

We had been planning to go for the 150 for years, unfortunately this was a mistake. The crowds were enormous and the city was entirely unprepared. Communication via there website leading up to the event was poor and on the day of, tens of thousands...More

A fantastic day, being in Canada on their 150th birthday was a chance in a lifetime and I wouldn't have missed it for the world, even with the rain :-)

We celebrated Canada Day 150 along with about half a million other people. I hate crowds but this wasn't so bad because the people were spread out all over Ottawa. The weather had been rainy which did not seem to be a deterrent. We did...More

We celebrated Canada Day's 150 Year weekend in Wakefield, Hull and Ottawa on our siblings family holiday. What an amazing experience for everyone who attended the celebration.

We enjoyed the Canada Day celebrations this year, and it was a lot of fun to be there. The security screening created long lines, but I guess it's necessary in this day and age. Also, this year the fireworks were later, starting at 11:00 pm....More

Loved the fireworks, hated the confusion re: BUSES from Gatineau to Ottawa. A usual 45 min-1hour bus ride home from downtown Ottawa took 2.5 hours. Which means, we didn't get home til 2am!

We attended the Canada 150 celebrations in Ottawa and found it massively underwhelming. Streets were packed with people in white and red, but there was no atmosphere, no noise, no ambience. The streets of Ottawa were exactly how they are every other day of the...More

Gonna be in Ottawa for Canada 150. I wish I knew more about the events and what will be going on. I wll be there for the Friday the 30th and Saturday July 1st. I'm thinking there will be a special concert or something. I want to make a reservation at Mill Street for one of the two nights and possibly both nights but unsure if that will be the place to be. Would the view be very good from there for the fireworks? I know its going to be more crazy busy than any other Canada Day. Any advice or insights would be appreciated. I already have my accommodation set but I think this is definitely something that needs to be well planned and set up in advance especially this year. If there is a concert than I know that's where I will definitely want to be. Would that be at Parliament Hill along with the fireworks?
