We biked the dedicated bike/jog trail along the river from Westboro to the trail below the Parliament Buildings right to the Rideau locks. It was a beautiful even, paved trail with a fair number of people but still enjoyable. We knew we would have to return home in the dark but knowing the trail is level and there is no... More

Driving along the Sir John A MacDonald parkway is always the best way to travel to and from the downtown core of Ottawa. It gets you away from speeding down highway 417 to get anywhere in downtown Ottawa- or a quicker route to get to Gatineau , Quebec. Recently having to drive the route everyday to get to work in... This picturesque parkway connects downtown with the west end of Ottawa. But instead of being your typical urban highway, this is a lovely winding road along the beautiful Ottawa River. It is great for joggers, bikers and picnickers, with several small parks to stop at along the way, including one with a public beach. I recommend stopping at Remic Rapids,... More

We just love to use this parkway to go downtown. It's my favorite! I love looking at the Rideau Canal all the way. Since it's not really a highway, people take their sweet time and follow the limit. There is also a bike/walk pathway along the Canal.

Lovely along the Ottawa river. Scenery is beautiful. Lots of places to stop along the river. And not far from anywhere in the city.

Usually a way to avoid traffic congestion! Most of the dying ash trees have been removed. Great vistas of the Ottawa river while journeying along the parkland of its southern shore. There is a beach which on a hot day attracts many locals.

One of Ottawa's little gems. Ether walking, biking or driving this is a must if in Ottawa's west end. It fallows the grand Ottawa River with park to stop and see the sites.

As a well-travelled Canadian I think Ottawa is the worst designed capital city in the Western world, and a good example are the 'parkways'...highways that run from the centre of the town through empty bush with no development or commercial activity allowed. A total mosquito infested wasteland that people speed to get through. Waste of space.

A lovely spot to stroll on the banks of the river. Be careful of speeding bikes. A great walk with great views. Do itZ,
