The Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway is a great way to travel from downtown to the west end of Ottawa. When driving along the Parkway recently, it made us realize how lucky we are in Ottawa to have so many large beautiful green spaces. Although it is November, there were still lots of people walking, jogging and biking. There are... More

If not for the scenic route, this would simply just another artery in the clogged traffic system of Ottawa. With the 417 being such a terrible experience, at times, many will use this parkway to get from point A to B, and it shows. Particularly around Island Park, which links to the Champlain Bridge heading into Aylmer, it can be... More

The parkway is extremely nice and would be excellent for a good walk. It's nice to be essentially at the border of two pieces of history in the nation and how much has happened along the river edge.

For our two week stay in Ottawa, my husband & I rented a Airbnb condo in the Nepean area. This scenic parkway connected this west end area of Ottawa with the downtown. It was so much less stressful than driving on the freeway. The views of green space, parks, the Ottawa River, bridges, trees, gorgeous flower beds, joggers, bikers, picnickers,... More

When I want a break from work and I want some nature close by that offers diversity my first choice has always been the Parkway. From forests of trees, flowers, birds and small animals or the majestic Ottawa River it has never let me down. Sometimes I drive to one of the several parking areas and sit in my car... More

It is easy to forget just how in touch with nature Canada's capital city is. Even though it bears a bit of an air of cosmopolitanism thanks to its museum, culture and sometimes impressive layout, the city is not that far removed from the Canadian wilderness. This is especially true on the parkway, where there are various lookouts (Kitchissippi might... More

We biked the dedicated bike/jog trail along the river from Westboro to the trail below the Parliament Buildings right to the Rideau locks. It was a beautiful even, paved trail with a fair number of people but still enjoyable. We knew we would have to return home in the dark but knowing the trail is level and there is no... More

Driving along the Sir John A MacDonald parkway is always the best way to travel to and from the downtown core of Ottawa. It gets you away from speeding down highway 417 to get anywhere in downtown Ottawa- or a quicker route to get to Gatineau , Quebec. Recently having to drive the route everyday to get to work in...
