Relax at the cafe and pub and enjoy the falls and river view.
Sep 2021
Not Niagara, but a pleasant spot. There is a cafe and pub adjacent, and great views of the river and Gatineau from the tables. A nice spot for a break or visit friends.

Interesting to see!

We saw the falls as part of a river cruise. Very interesting. The guide was very helpful explaining why it was named Rideau.

Small waterfall with lots of power
Oct 2020 • Business
Randomly came across this but was surprised with the power of the falls. There is a footpath over the top of the falls.

Scenic Area
Oct 2019
If you don’t mind walking, we highly recommend it, if you are on Rideau St. ( about 2 mile ) It’s also on the way to Rideau Hall. If you plan on visiting Rideau Hall, tie this together. The falls and park are really beautiful, peaceful and scenic. We went in the fall when the leaves were changing colors, and of course that kinda put the icing on the cake. I can’t comment on when is a good season to visit since we’ve only been there in the Fall, but I would imagine you can’t go wrong going at any seasons.

NATURES WONDERS
Oct 2019
Natural beauty at its best. Seeing the strength and power of the falls up close was amazing. My wife and I stopped off in the area whilst touring East Canada and enjoyed the views provided by this wonder of nature.

Lovely Falls
Oct 2019 • Family
Beautifully place we visit before we leave Ottawa, on the bridge, we found some ducks search for food and next to the main fall there is a minor one, but the bushes all covered it and can hardly to see. Next to the entrance, there is a free car park for 120 mins. Not big, only for six to eight cars.

Beautiful
Oct 2019
We went on the Ottawa River Cruise and stopped to look at the Rideau Falls. It was getting a little dark so could see it but I am sure in the daylight it would have been better.

Worth the Stroll
Oct 2019 • Couples
I couldn’t see any sign marking these falls. And it is more confusing because there are actually 2 sets of falls. It’s off Sussex Street, just past the National Research Council of Canada Building, there is a park with a large eagle on top of a globe. The first set of falls is okay but underwhelming. Walk on further toward the Restaurant on the Falls and you will see the real ones.

It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from Notre Dame Basilica.

Gorgeous Vistas of Two Powerful Rivers
May 2019
Every so often I take a short walk up Boteler to Sussex and then onwards to Rideau Falls, where the Rideau River joins the Ottawa River in a noisy display of nature's power being harnessed by man's technology. There are several parks with monuments in the area, along with some embassies which will make it an afternoon of exploring for the eager, especially if the weather is cooperating. It's particularly lovely in the spring when tulips are blooming. A word of advice: Bring a raincoat or umbrella to protect yourself and your camera from the spray off the falls (=
