Thank you very much for your positive input! We are very glad that you enjoyed your visit! As you said, the construction equipment is not usually part of the facade's architecture but we are convinced that it will be all worth it when the changes will be unveiled in a few months time. We look forward to seeing you again... More

I think that only in Canada would you have complete access to the Queen's Representative. The grounds are a gorgeous 79 acres of rolling lawns, gardens, walking paths and forests. The rose garden is spectacular. There are free guided tours of the mansion which we ran out of time to take. Monday through Friday you need to reserve. Weekends no... More

A beautiful destination for an afternoon walk on a nice summer day. Lots of flowers, rose gardens and artifacts to check out on the grounds as you walk. Also, in the summer months, their very knowledgeable guides can take you on a tour of the residence (English and French), full of history and information on the Governor General, present and... Only 34 of us on a tour - lucked out - felt like it was personally set up for us. Excellent and knowledgeable young woman leading us on the tour of this beautiful place. Improvements are happening for next year when Canada is 150 years old, so may be an even better experience. We will go back again. Most interesting... More

We chose to visit on a day with a special harvest event. As we needed accessible pairing we called ahead and had no problem getting access. There were guides that met us and lead us to a tour of the residence prior to us touring the grounds and being able to sample some wonderful treats. Very impressed with both the... More

I had researched the tours and was all set, took a cab, walked the historic Trudeau path only to find the tours were timed and every other one was in English. The temporary tent for tickets doesn't say tickets, it says First Aid so by the time I walked back (with difficulty as I am arthritic) from the security tent,... More

Another great "free" tour to visit this very historic building and beautiful grounds. The tour lasts approx. 45 minutes and includes many of the rooms where functions & events are held, including the awarding of honours to Canadians and the swearing in ceremonies for new federal governments and state dinners for foreign dignitaries.

We enjoyed walking out to the hall, but it is a fair step and you can get a bus or drive. The grounds are extensive and the tour was informative and very interesting.

Where the Canadian governor lives. There is English and French tour guide and it takes 45 mins. The tend room, ball room, etc. It opens only few rooms, it is worth for people who loves history.

Rideau Hall is an immense house that serves as the workplace and residence of the governor general of Canada--the chief representative of the Crown (Canada is part of the British Commonwealth). What will impress you first, however, are the park-like grounds: lawns, trees, flowers, gardens that encompass almost 80 acres. Go for a long stroll before you head over to... More
