Awesome free tour. The grounds are stunning. Loved looking at all of the trees planted by dignitaries from around the world. My kids loved the tent room. They dream of a bedroom that cool. Tour guide gave us a very thorough tour and was more than happy to answer any questions. We all learnt a great deal. Added bonus: there... More

Did the free half-hour tour inside the governor's residence and saw the changing of the guards. Very scenic and peaceful with lots of green spaces. Bring food as there are no restaurants nearby. From downtown Ottawa, it takes half an hour's walk or a 15-minute bus ride to reach the place.

Thank you for taking a minute out of your time to write a review! You are right: Rideau Hall is a small oasis just outside the downtown core of Ottawa. We are glad that you also got to see the Ceremonial Guards in addition to touring the residence! We look forward to seeing you again! More

My friend and I took this tour and were very impressed by the knowledge of the young lady and the interesting facts she included in the tour of the things we saw. My friend is local and has done this tour numerous times but she says every tour is a little different as they change the artwork that line the... More

Watched the changing of the Guard at Rideau Hall, followed by a tour of the inside and the grounds. This is a no cost venue which showcases Canadian history and tradition.

On a very hot and humid day, walking the grounds of Rideau Hall was quite pleasant. Lots of trees and shady spots. We took the free tour, which provided air conditioning. The guide was very knowledgeable, the tour was very informative. We watched the exchange of sentries. I cannot imagine wearing those uniforms in the summer. I suspect they faint... More

Maybe we weren't impressed easily, but the house was "OK".It wasn't anything that impressive, but some of the furniture was just beautiful Wasn't our favorite attraction in Ottawa.

It was difficult to get in touch with the tour office to find out the tour schedule. We finally made it and did the self guided tour. No place to park and the house is a long way from the road. Was expecting something more lavish and interesting.

I had the opportunity to visit Rideau Hall in late June. The gardens are immense and so lovely. The rose garden was a particular joy! Near to the home, there is a garden full of ceremonial trees. Each bares a plaque of the variety of tree, who had planted it and the date. I found that quite fascinating. There is... More

This is a cool place to go for a walk, I didn't make it into the House (for a tour or anything) , but it is just a really beautiful spot to check out and walk about!

We are very happy to know that you enjoyed walking around the grounds of Rideau Hall. The grounds change every season and at this time of the year, the flowers attract the most attention! Next time you should come and participate in a guided tour of the residence: it will complement very nicely your experience outside! More
