See the sights in Canada’s Capital from the Ottawa River during this narrated tour onboard the Paula D. Look out at Canada’s Parliament Buildings from the river and snap photos of the spectacular city views. Marvel at the mix of natural beauty and modern, urban development while enjoying refreshments or cocktails from the boat’s canteen.

This is a beautiful walk, and is centrally located to many worthwhile points of interest. Just off the Ottawa River and across from Quebec, while also close to parliament and the downtown core. Definitely one of the nicer walks anywhere in Ontario.

Walked and ran along the canal. Connects to the Ottawa River path so if you had a bike you could ride for hours on designated pedestrian paths. The main locks are next to parliament hill where the canal connects to the Ottawa River. You can walk over the multiple locks and see how they work. Signs everywhere explaining how they were built were also interesting to read.

Very interesting and very historic too. This site allowed ships to pass without using a way too long route and get to where it was needed within the five days we need. Without this canal ships would have to use costly and long turn around trips.

In between Parliament Hill and the Chateau Laurier, on the bridge on Wellington Street lies the best view of the locks and the Rideau Canal, as well as Bytown Museum. Great photo spot!

This is a must-see at Ottawa. It is right by the Parliment buildings, and is a great spot for pictures. There are some nice plaques that give some more details about the making of the canals. It is very easy to get across - we even saw people going across with their bikes. There are also trails nearby. There are stairs to get down, so maybe no accessible for those with mobility issues, but you can also see it from the top on the bridge.
