Both of my kids graduated from Ottawa University. It is located downtown so it is close to everything. They were able to find apartments within walking distance and the campus itself is very nice.

My incentive to learn about this university came to me as a resulst of attending two guitar recitals given my one of its graduates in the psat two or three years in northeast Ohio. I have met and listened to one of the graduates of the University's College or School of Music perform classical music on a guitar on three occasions in Ohio. Guitar musical performances are common here. I have bought two of his CD's for listening and I liked what I heard. One of the first questions I asked him was where did he get his degree and profesesional training. When he said the University of Ottawa and I realized that he could speak French. I knew for sure that I had visited the right place years ago when I went to Ottawa for the first time I recall walking around the campus for ths university that is located within an area close to downtown Ottawa to make it accessible easily on foot from the Parliament Buildings.I also recall asking questions about the range of degrees available at this university. I am a university degree-type person who likes to know about educational opportunities at universities. I did my homework and learned about the range of degrees and areas of study. I was interested in the opportunities fo study classical music there. After hearing this guitarist once or twice perform music I knew that I had to learn more about this place. So there must me some quality training and education at the University of Ottawa for guitar performance. I have also spoken with this guitarist on two occasions in northeast Ohio. I wanted to know about the doctoral degrees and the fields available for study at the University of Ottawa so I did more homework on the subject. There must be instruction in French as well so it should be a good place to learn..I went to the large library to see what operations made the place serve students. I was impressed So will you like wwalking around the campus! The range of doctoral degrees is large and worth while exploring but it is better to enroll soon. I considered transfering from a school in the States but that can be tricky and cumbersome an operation if if is not streamlined. But investigate the process!

Do not attend. It's great- beautiful, awesome people, great profs-- but the administration there is ridiculous.

I can't speak for any department other than Social Sciences- but it is almost impossible to get a hold of them (expect to sit on hold often), they are extremely rude, they aren't helpful (school is hard enough without hidden deadlines).

IF you send anything in via email, I suggest you call right afterwards (wait on hold) to tell them you sent something to ensure they have actually received it.

I would also call them often to ensure there are no hidden deadlines that could defer your graduation. And don't bother contacting anyone to complain (even higher ups) because they won't help... nothing changes, they don't listen to students, and it's a waste of time.

Please also be prepared for hearing many different things by many different receptionists... its extremely frustrating.

The website is of NO help.. for anyone who wants to graduate in September, please be warned, they will not look at or process ANYTHING until after June 20th!!! This is difficult.. as most schools (masters, college programs), require documents by JUNE 30TH!!

Why is this dump even listed? I mean there is absolutely nothing here. This university does not even rank, known to the locals as University of Zero (0).

Billed as "Canada's bilingual university", it caters predominately to francophone students. Go to McBill, Queens, .... even Carlton.

Nice university, lots of intelligence here, lots of pavillions, I would not like yo be student over the winter. You walk everywhere, leave your car at home, better to travel by bus, parking is very expensive, they patrol and give tickets. There is a great array of foods here and there. Everything is expensive, tuition, coffee, transportation, books and food. But what a grat place to study, you are downtown right next to Rideau street, shopping centres, its a happening place with lots of synergy anf brains. If you are thinking where to study pick here. You take the bus with your student bus pass, get downtown, grab a lattee, walk a bit and get to class, need money not a problems ATM are abudance, so is food etc. a grat place to study in style. Did I mention the Rideau Canal is right there, skate in the winter...kidding

I have an Honours B.A., an M.A. and a Ph.D. from U of O. I loved every minute I was there and wish I were forty years younger so I could start all over again.

I was trying to attend an event recently. Their administration is so convoluted and their webpage so user unfriendly is was hard to find any useful info. If you're visiting, skip this place until they sort out their logistics. The on-campus food I tried was atrocious and expensive although I only visited one facility and can't comment on the overall level of gastronomic evolution of this place.

There are over 40,000 students. It has the largest law school in Canada as well as the largest french imersion program. It was built in 1848 and has a 97 per cent of employment for graduates which is really important. I found the staff very helpful and met a lot of friendly people the day i went for a tour.
