On Saturday June 25th, we took my husband on this tour as a Birthday gift, and we were left feeling incredibly disappointed! Our so called personable, professional tour guide Tyler was completely unprofessional. He started out first thing stating he had a non-contagious form of tonsilitis , and that he would not be speaking much as it was painful. Tyler then went on to state that we may not want to sit at the back 5 seats of the bus as the A/C and compressor were not working and it will be too hot and the worst place in the bus to be. Tyler also stated that if we needed boxes for our wine, to ask the wineries, i believe it stated on the website that boxes would be provided.
First stop was Legends Winery we were in and out in about a half hour and proceeded to wait until Tyler returned with the bus about 15 minutes later, once we left there he said we would head to Magnotta winery, which would probably make us late for Forty Creek, but don't worry just tell them it was heavy traffic or an accident and that Forty Creek will probably not be happy with him, but oh well !. We did not go to the Magnotta winery described on your Distillery Tour Website, it was the Magnotta Wine Store ! Once we were loading the bus from the Magnotta store, a gentleman on the tour asked where we were going next?....... Tyler said " i don't know" and turned around to look at his phone ! the entire trip Tyler proceeded to play HIS music from his phone and sing along by himself like he was in an "airband".
Once we arrived at Forty-creek for the production tour/tasting and shopping, which according to your website description is a 90 minute stop including a tour of the production etc, he reminded us to say traffic caused us to be late. There was NOT a tour of production AT ALL ! we were ushered into a room, whereby although knowledgable the lady ran through the history, and escorted us to the store to taste the whisky varieties and shop. We were there, maybe 40 minutes , most of that time in the store!! The whole point of us bringing my husband on this tour was for the Forty-Creek Tour of the Distillery.
We then headed to Crabby Joes for lunch, whereby tyler handed out abbreviated menus that stated circle your choices, not sure why, as in the restaurant we were allowed to order anything from the menu. A few of the other people on the tour were left shaking there heads at Tyler bizarre behavior as well , stating they were thinking of leaving the tour and getting a cab back to their vehicles. Several others at lunch stated that "Thank god they got this tour for half price through Groupon" because they would never pay full price for this experience! Sadly we stated to the others on the tour, we HAD paid full price ! Once lunch was done, Tyler said we are heading to Vieni winery, my friend was answering a question from another person on the tour when Tyler barked at her and said "can you be quiet", my friend shocked, then said "are you scolding me"? Tyler proceeded to tell her that she was RUDE when he was trying to speak, really ? really? he was completely out of line and unprofessional as out of the 34 people on this tour, half of them were speaking to one another. He then proceeded to mention he was tired.
We went to Vieni Winery, the best stop of the tour, no thanks to our driver. When we boarded the bus, Tyler had left a hand written note on my friends seat, which i have attached for you. Tyler proceeds to play his heavy music and sing and dance while driving !! I guess the FUN in Niagara Fun Tours is for Tyler alone. We went to Flat Rock Winery as our last stop. Once we loaded the bus to finish the tour, Tyler said if any of the groups can guess his age, they will get a bottle of wine, and hopefully no one guessed he was over 40 ? Clearly offending 3/4 of the people on this tour, and that we were headed back to the drop offs etc. I have to say that when he stated he was 27, i was shocked as well as numerous others on the tour, especially considering his "oh well whatever" attitude and behaviour. The topic of children was mentioned by one of the ladies on the tour and tyler proceeded to say he has already lost 2 children and that he is not allowed to have any more !! WHAT?? really? is this appropriate ? Through the many conversations he had with HIMSELF while driving he mentioned Divorce, that he was depressed because he could not stop and have a peanut butter ice cream ? This was incredibly unsettling to say the least.
It is safe to say that we did not have FUN on this tour ! We have been on Wine tours before in the area and this was shockingly bad to say the least. We will never take another tour through Niagara Fun Tours !! The biggest shame of this , aside from Tylers' poor behaviour , lack of working A/C on the bus (as tyler stated his boss got the good bus, this one was going in for service on monday) and that we had wasted $300 , was that the we did not see Magnotta Winery and that we did not participate in a tour of the Forty-Creek Distillery ! I felt it was imperative to write this email/review to you as Tyler should not have been directing this tour. I understand that people have issues in their life, however we have paid full price for a Distillery and Wine tour, and it is not our problem that he is tired, in pain, and clearly not focused. Perhaps Tyler should have not come into work if he was that bad !
