The view is spectacular. Breath taking and amazing. The thundering falls so close is too good to witness, The mist just adds another dimension. Cant miss this in Canada. This is the best of Nature you can ever see.

The natural beauty and awesome size/scale of the falls is something to see. The overly commercialized and tacky rest of the town is profoundly terrible. $30 to park near the falls is also a complete rip off, Uber from your hotel

The Horseshoe Falls are huge! The sound and the mist that come from it are unbelievable. We came around 6 in the evening and it was much less crowded. You can walk from the American Falls to the Horseshoe falls very easily on the paved path that follows the river. Its a short distance.

One of the most beautiful things on this planet. Clean, powerful, soothing. Area is very classy and well maintained. The mist from the falls is refreshing. View is unobstructed due to logical railing and building placement. You can get really close to falls. A ride on the boats is a must to truly experience the power and scale. Rainbows on sunny days and colorful lights at night. No foul smell and most people are clean and respectful. Area feels safe with many benches and facilities near by. I've been visiting the falls for over 45 years and it never gets old.
This should be a bucket list item for those who have not seen it or been to Canada.

We visited Horseshoe Falls from both the U.S. and Canadian side. Both offer their own special views, but the Canadian side allows you to see the falls so much better. For an even more majestic experience, you have to take either the Maid of the Mist (U.S.) or the Niagara City Cruises (Canadian) boat ride.
Suggestion: Have rain jackets ready from either side as the mist can sometimes be like a light to medium rain fall.

It was breathtaking to admire the Horseshoe Falls daily for 5 nights from our hotel at eye level as well as the colourful nightly Illumination of the Falls!!
We could feel the powerful mist sprays when we walked from Fallsview Boulevard to Niagara Parkway (15 minutes) to take a closer look at the Horseshoe Falls.
We were lucky to see rainbow 🌈 splashed across the Horseshoe Falls 4 days out of the 5 nights.
I loved the Journey Behind the Falls better than Voyage to the Falls. Simply feel alive being so close to the powerful splashing of the Horseshoe Falls.
The closest view of the Horseshoe Falls is at Table Rock Centre, which is the place you board or alight for the Incline Railway.

You hear lots of details about the falls, but until you see it in person you can not phantom what it is really like. We took the train down from Union Station in Toronto for a day trip. We caught the hop on hop off bus that makes the rounds to most of the sites in Niagara. Horseshoe Falls is the biggest and most expansive of the the falls.
I wish we had planned to do an overnight trip so we could have seen the falls lit up at night.

This is one of the most amazing sights I have every laid eyes upon.
The sheer force of the mammoth amounts of water thundering over the falls is astounding. The raw power of mother nature is evident. The day was hot so the spray billowing up from Horseshoe Falls was cooling and very welcome. And catch it right, you can see rainbows in the spray. There are loads of people so be patient if you want to get to the front, we didn't have too much trouble though.
From the Canadian side you can see the Horseshoe falls in all its glory and you get a great view of the water approaching the Falls from about the same level (see photos). The whole thing is a very humbling experience. We are but a tiny dot on this amazingly beautiful planet. You can also see the American Falls from the Canadian side.
I have not been on the American side of the Falls but they appear to have a tower built out a little from the edge where they can view the American Falls if they are not going on the boats, I don't know what they can see of the Horseshoe Falls if anything, so I think that the Canadian side is best as you can see it all.
There are of course boat trips out on the water towards the Falls, but we did not do this and there is also a Zip wire on the Canadian side. If you want to do loads of these things you will need the whole day.
I would not have missed this for the world, neither should you

One can go on foot using the Shuttle (Free of charge), buy a tour and get there on foot, or buy a short ride via helicopter. The helicopter one is IT!!!! It is an awesome experience and I definitely recommend it. Try it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I DId. It is a once in a lifetime kind of thing!!!!

By God one of the best things that you will ever see. A natural beauty. A boat ride will take you as close as you can get to it, but we did not take it since it's a little bit over our budget. Recommended to see it both during the night and day. Beautiful no matter when you see it.

We are a family of 4 and will be staying on the U.S. side. Boys are ages 7 and 11. Most of what I am reading is saying that the best views are from the Canadian side. Would you agree? We will be visiting on the 4th of July and want to incorporate the fireworks into our visit. Is there a specific, very highly recommended tour that does multiple things throughout the second part of the day and would include the fireworks?
Do we need passports to see the falls from the Canadian side?
Written February 17, 2019
Yes you can. Boats tour the falls from both the American (Niagara Falls) and Canadian (Horseshoe Falls). There are also some really nice outlooks on both sides and a walking tour that goes behind the falls.

Wenn ich aus der USA komme und nur nach Kanada gehen will, um die Horseshoe zu besichtigen, brauche ich dann ebenfalls ein Visum?
Besten Dank

We are a group of 4 coming to stay on the Canadian side August 13-16, 2018. Should we book now online or get tickets when we arrive for Maid of the Mist tour?
Written July 31, 2018
You may get discounts from hotel or tour operators, best to avoid online purchase unless you see a discount or promotion

Does it make sense to do both the Hornblower Cruise and Maid of the Mist one during the day and one at night to get the experience of both sides?

I say do everything you possibly can. It may be a once in a lifetime experience jam pack as much in as possible. I LOVED Niagara Falls. We stayed on Canadian side.

We are travelling to the falls 10th/11th May - do I need to book the boat tour and behind the falls tour before we travel or is this easy to do on the day?
Written April 29, 2018
You can book ahead, but you can also get discounts available at most hotels...when we have gone, we never prebooked and had no problem getting into or on any attractions...May should be a good time, before the huge summer influx of visitors (my husband and myself grew up very close to Niagara Falls and visited frequently for years) Have a great vacation!

Hi everyone, i will have transfer in Toronto with 7 hours of free time. Its possible visit Niagara falls during this time? Thank you so much
Written December 30, 2017
Yes. It will be tight but doable. Toronto is a little over an hour and a half drive (but I drive fast) so plan on 3 1/2-4 hours on the road. That leaves plenty of time to view the falls. It will be worth the time. Enjoy!
Written December 31, 2017
if we're only interested in seeing the falls (not the tourist trap of a town around it), where do we park to see them? thanks!
Written December 15, 2017
You make a reservation and grab an appetizer or whatever you want at Elements Restaurant which has the best view of the falls in my opinion and it's free parking once you go to the restaurant.Tell them you have a reservation when you speak to the parking attendant and it's free. This way you avoid an unnecessary $20 parking fee and you get food that is reasonably priced and an awesome view plus free parking! The name of the parking slot for the Elements Restaurant is Table Rock Center the closest to the falls,a $20 parking lot that us FREE when you make reservation at Elements Restaurant.Hope this helps!
