Heart of Mississauga
Aug 2020
It was a great idea to have this square in front of the City Hall. This gives everyone a common place to meet. The water park and playground are always crowed with children. Also, the weekly specials were great; hope they come back soon.

New year countdown
Jan 2020 • Friends
Was just the right amount of people. Decent fireworks, not too much traffic getting back out post-countdown. A nice not-so-crazy way to begin the year. Would likely do it again!

Fountains worth a splash in!
Jul 2019
Great for the kids to have a splash in the fountains on a warm day. Picnic benches around the outside. Would definitely come back for the food festivals or film showings

Feels like the heart of Mississauga
Jul 2019 • Friends
This is a nice place for a casual hang out with family and friends. A group of co-workers and I went to a food truck festival on a Friday and it was really comfortable and nice to be there. It's open air with stage and walking distance to Square One Mall so plenty of parking around the area. It was also very neat and clean.

A great way to use the square during winter and with top-notch ice

Henny Bogan Does Celebration Square
Right in front of Mississauga’s City Hall lies Celebration Square, a multi-purpose area which livens up the location from the spring throughout the fall. For three seasons of the year, residents can enjoy festivals, cultural events, shows and even movies. But instead of lying dormant in winter, the Square is superb for ice skating. It’s big enough to accommodate skaters of all levels and the ice is like glass from the opening bell at 10:00 a.m. after being Zamboniezed. Surrounding the ice is a walk-around area of softer tiles for skates and picnic benches for changing shoes or just plain relaxing after a vigorous skate. One side of the rink is narrower on the turn and is a safety precaution against over-eager skating enthusiasts and the yellow-vests are usually out in force for more safety reminders. And not to forget the nearby free parking on weekends. As a resident, I appreciate how Mississauga is using this space during the colder months, and as a former hockeyist, its best feature is that it’s free.

Free place to spend free time
Aug 2018 • Family
Good during the hot day as they have these fountains and water that kids can play in. Walking distance to square one and just by the library. Many interesting events on the weekends and in the evenings.

Good, safe and clean but food too $$
Jul 2018 • Friends
I like the grass because it's fake and you feel comfortable walking it. The movies are great on Thursdays and the cultural festivals are amazing! I love the diversity and the playful environment. The only complaint so have is that the vendors charge way too much for food. Most families with young children cannot afford the very high prices that they charge here.

Canada Day fun
Jul 2018 • Family
Canada Day festivities with lots of food trucks, vendors, entertainment and water for splashing in.
Free entrance, LAC fun close by if you want to go in for some A/C and clean washrooms. Plenty of parking close by,.,,underground and outside.
Right beside Square One mall as another location to cool down in

feel like a citizen
Feb 2018 • Solo
This square celebrates the importance of people. Cities need community meeting places as found in Old World traditions: free access, public art, garden areas, open space for recreation. I smiled at the small skate park that warned against graffiti yet it was beautifully present on purposefully designed wall panels. I stepped inside city hall and was impressed with its church-like tribute to civic mindedness. Intriguing architecture, such as a grand staircase that awed, is at every turn. My visit was in February; the two jumbo screens next to Burnhamthorpe Rd. East showed live Winter Olympics coverage whilst a lone ice skater circled a rink outside the art gallery. Such atmosphere! Worth the wander.
