This is one of my very favourite places!
Green and lush, with a lovely trail through the forest.. or picnic down by the lake. Its a lovely way to spend an hour or two..

Decided to check out this place on a rainy Saturday last weekend. There is lots of free parking available.

As soon as you park, you can get a lovely view of the entire estate and the lake front area as well which is very peaceful and quite. We hiked to the waterfront trail and came across lots of families and couples. Some were enjoying their picnics while others their hot cups of tea/coffee. The waterfront is really beautiful and quite.

According to historical information, what is now Adamson Estate began in 1809 as a land grant to Joseph Cawthra that got passed down through the generations as “Grove Farm.” Said farm was later given as a wedding gift to Mabel Cawthra and Adar Adamson in 1899 and from then on became known as “Adamson Estate.” The property was acquired by the Credit Valley Conservation Authority in 1975 and formally recognized as a historic place in 1978. Currently the buildings are used by a private high school (Blyth Academy) but the grounds are open to the public.

We have been Port Credit residents for a few years before we belatedly explored the neighbourhood. Our first visit to Adamson Estate was on foot and, not knowing any better, we took the vehicular route and approached the property from Enola Ave. That time we were unfamiliar with the Waterfront Trail so we had no idea we could reach Adamson Estate via a shorter route by way of Cumberland Dr. Mississauga marathon runners would know the path I am referring to as it is part of the race route about 1.5 kms from the finish line.

Fast forward to today, we visit Adamson Estate once in a while, sometimes on foot, oftentimes by bike, depending on the season. Occasionally we bring tourist-relatives over but mostly we come by ourselves. Neighbourhood residents go here for their bike rides or morning/afternoon walks with/without dogs on their way to nearby R.K. McMillan Park or beyond. Some stop by for relaxation and quiet conversation as they sit on benches while looking out to Lake Ontario. Visitors come for a bit of sightseeing and picture-taking.

It is a very peaceful waterfront park, very romantic, with beautiful grounds and historical structures such as the barn (c. 1870), the two-storey manor (c. 1920), and the wooden folly or gate house (C. 1904), said to be unique, being the only wooden folly in Canada. Aside from these, there is a fenced 200-year-old American Beech tree on the property, a pet cemetery and, hard to ignore, a lovely view of the lake.

It is no surprise then that Adamson Estate is a favourite venue for engagement/wedding photography sessions (permit required). A google search will quickly prove this, though we have not chanced upon any photo sessions during any of our visits.

Adamson Estate is open year-round. Free parking available on site. No washroom facilities.

Great spot for a romantic walk or a simple relaxing day reading a good book. Ideal for wedding photos. You may require a permit to take wedding photos but check with the city to confirm.

Beautiful estate area, sit down by the lake, relax, enjoy the peacefulness. Great place for wedding pictures, very serene. Too bad so many ash trees have been removed, but was necessary. Wonderful old architecture.

Lovely place. Not much to do other than stare at the lake but sometimes that's all you want to do. Great for just relaxing in the summer time for some peace and quiet.

This place is very nice to walk, especially on a summer's evening. I am looking forward to the spring when it is warmer to walk comfortably.

Great park with a lot of photo options. The older buildings, the barn, lake views. Not too big either. Plenty of parking.
