We had a great first camping experience in our new RV for the weekend. We wanted to give it a good test run somewhere local before some of our bigger trips this summer.

Our site in the Pines was wonderful. Decent amount of space, clean and easy to access. We loved all the mature trees too which helped make lots of shade on the sites. Security did frequent laps and other guests were very quiet.

There is so much to see and explore. We did some Geocaching and hiking but were a bit disappointed in the amount of garbage along the trails that we hiked.

Would 100% come back again and would recommend to others.

Kayaking, first time, went well here. Great Lake and scenery. Very calm and well maintained. Girl at front gate was exceptional; welcomed, map and instructions. Saw some hawks and bald eagle, other than that, pretty quiet morning.

had a great afternoon canoeing on Fanshawe lake. Half day rental was $25 (full day rental $35) which includes life jackets, paddles, and the canoe itself. They also rent kayaks! Canoes and kayaks available on first come first served basis. Great for people who just want a day out and are not camping already at the park.

My daughter(3 yrs old), wife and I have been regular campers for a very long time. We recently stayed at the fanshawe conservation area for, what was supposed to be, a week. My wife who works in London was coming out to join us after work. She arrived at the campground around 8:30pm. I received a call that someone at the front office was trying to charge her $28 to enter the park for the night instead of the usual $14 for extra vehicles driven by people already registered to a camp site, which she was. I had to make the trip up to the front office, with my daughter, and argue with the kid, maybe 17 yrs old, about what we always have paid. He finally made a phone call, to someone who knew what was going on, and allowed us to enter for the $14. But not before rudely comenting" your lucky she's registered to the site"!
Ifor it ended there I would not be doing this. Shortly after 10pm that same night the same kid, with another security oficer, comes down to our site shining flashlights around yelling "site inspection, site inspection". I jump up from the picnic table to find out what is going on and he says "my boss told me to come down and find out what your intentions are with these wood pallets". By now my 3 year old daughter is crying, which thankfully she rarely does, at which point I tell him he better have his boss come down in the morning and I'll talk to him about these ever so important skids. My daughter, who has spent over 50 nights in a tent, was terrified of "the men with the flashlights". Poor little thing. We could not get her calmed down and my wife had no choice but to take her home to get her back to sleep. The following 3 nights little Gracie wanted nothing to do with going camping and still talks about the scary men with the glass lights. The next morning I went up to the registration of ice and insisted the manager contact me about the ordeal, 30 some hours later I receive his call and he assures me he will find out what went wrong and get back to me. That was 11 days ago and still nothing. I also voiced my complaint on Thier Facebook page, they typically respond within 24 hrs, and that to was now well over a week ago with no response from anyone. Worst experience of our lives

Our family and friends will never return to this campground!! Weekend campers are booked in amongst hundreds of seasonal campsites which is just asking for drama! There are groundhogs everywhere and we had a skunk amongst our campsite that we always had to be cautious of with our kids and dogs. Park security kicked us out after the second night because our group didn’t go to bed when asked. Not sure how they think they can get away with telling people they have to go to bed at a certain time. We were asked to pull out our 40 foot trailer first thing in the morning. We were clearly upset about this request ... as anyone who spends a fortune to go camping would be. And after my husband expressed his extreme displeasure, the OPP was then called and we were issued with a trespassing ticket because we failed to leave the premises when directed. Again, anyone who knows what it is like to pack and haul out a 40 foot trailer knows you cannot leave any premises in 5 minutes!! Park security were extremely unreasonable and antagonistic when dealing with the situation. We did not receive a refund for the remaining two days we paid for, and we also received a fine to pay for! This is one place I would never recommend and will never spend another dollar to go to!

Zero cost and lots of ground to cover on the off season!
Hiked 22km around the lake on a beautiful snow dusted day. Had to cross a creek over branches at one point, so be prepared. Bikes run this loop quite a bit so be aware. The complete loop took us 5hrs 45minutes.

Fanshawe has arguably the best mountain bike trail of its length in London. I am able to visit the park to ride the trail two or three times a year and always find it to be a rewarding and challenging experience. The trail has a wide variety of terrain, from paved roads within the park, a few km on a paved rural road to dirt hiking trails winding through the woods. The trail is moderately challenging in the trail section and in places requires less-experienced and fit riders, like myself, to dismount and walk up/down steep grades. The trail is approximately 20 km in length and circles around the lake that forms the core of the conservation area. During the week there are relatively few trail users and it is possible to set a good pace. Mountain bikes are a necessity to use this trail and bike helmets are mandatory.

For the tent users, there are many large, treed, private sites to choose from, as well as sites on the water with a beautiful view (mind you, they're unserviced). Most of the serviced sites seemed on top of one another and out in the open.
There are radio free sections, pool and canoe rentals. The trails are awesome too, if you love a good walk or hike. There was plenty to do here, which made the trip very worthwhile.
We took a canoe out on the reservoir and fished for hours. It was so relaxing and enjoyable. We had a great time at this campground and will definitely return.

A Great destination no matter you want to camp for a summer weekend, or just take a short walk. The park is not far from the city but you can do many kinds of out door activities here.

Spent the afternoon hiking and fishing. Weather was great to get outdoors. Trails were well maintained but wet parts from recent rain. Park was free to get in because it's now considered off season.
