Excellent Museum and coupled with the tour of Kingston Pen is a must do for the traveler. Very informative and eye opening of conditions and the way of life for the staff and inmates. Retired guards are stationed around The Pen offering their experiences and...More

very informative, Especially due to the former guards who had worked there. I don't think the longer tour would have been anymore informative.

We had just enough time to take this tour before heading to Montreal. Well done and interesting. This penitentiary closed in 2013 so it was open for 200 years. Lots and lots of history in those walls. The thing that stuck with me was the...More

Beautiful museum in a heritage home! It only took my daughter and I about 45 minutes to walk through it, but I'm glad we made the time to visit. The exhibits are interesting and the staff are obviously very devoted. It is directly across the...More

To avoid confusion which I feel some reviews give, this museum can actually be visited either on its own or as an addition to a tour round the Kingston Penitentiary. We visited as an addition to a tour but we didn't have enough time and...More

Awesome tour and excellent tour guides (most are former prison guards or workers at the Kingston Pen). Very knowledgeable and had answers to all our questions. Definitely recommend this tour!

After completing a tour of the Kingston Penitentiary a trip to the museum is very worthwhile. Having heard the stories about escapes, weapons and life in a cell the museum brings it to life with concrete examples. Some of the creativity shown by the prisoners...More

We were a group of 14 and thoroughly enjoyed the museum and the way it presented itself and of course convenient to cross the road to the Men's Kingston Penitentiary was a bonus. The Hop on Hop off Bus service is a must.

More of an accumulation of stuff than actual museum. Some of it interesting, some you have to wonder whether anyone would find it interesting. Still, it's free and a good way to spend 45 minutes, so no complaining.

The museum is free. The Kingston pen fee is online. You should book though because it’s always booked up.
