Good gallery if you're in Hamilton

Spent half a day here looking at their collections. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, although not big enough or a whole day's excursion.

Feels like a metropolitan gallery in a major city. The exhibits are always awesome and well executed. Lovely little shop & cafe, very convenient parking right below.

Very impactful show Last Portfolio by Juri Dojc. Stunning images of abandoned Synagogues, schools, books and other Jewish artifacts from a time before the expulsion of entire communities to concentration camps in the 40's. Ken Dandy's Beyond the Crease is a large exhibit of Paintings that have never been shown together anywhere. Images from private collections and museums around the... More

Spent an hour or so in the Gallery a few weeks ago; the featured attraction was historical settings in Canada by such artists as Kreighoff and The Group of Seven. The art was displayed well and there was a background piece that provided information about each. It was well-done and educational also. As an extra bonus we went upstairs and... More

My granddaughter is interested in art for school so I took her on a visit to this museum. We are fifty five years in age difference but when we took in the art and walked around together and went to the gift shop where she let me know about her interests. We do not usually get this kind of opportunity to... My daughter and son really wanted to go, so I thought why not. It is two floors and our favorite was the top floor. That was more abstract art, and some sculptures. The first floor was more landscapes and portraits. Overall my kids and I had an OK time. I really recommend this art gallery, if this is your sort... More

This is a great tour for art lovers. My daughter absolutely loved it and my wife and I enjoyed it. The highlight was seeing Colville's original of the "horse running on the train tracks towards the locomotive" painting. I've loved that picture forever and had the pleasant surprise of actually seeing it in person.

Took my son & grandson to this special showing of Group of Seven, Krieghoff, Kane, Carr, Kane, Cullen, Colville, etc. It was a wonderful display of talents and landscapes, scenes that are identifiably Canadian - not to mention the sculpture gallery with inuit sculpture, Bronzes and other mediums. This was a well spent afternoon. My grandson tarried the longest over... More
