Very convenient - you can avoid parking and traffic hassles in downtown Halifax if you're in Dartmouth. Very good frequency. Clean and efficient. Parking at the ferry terminal parking lot in Dartmouth can be a bit pricey though.

On a whim, we decided to take the ferry to Dartmouth, walk the waterfront there and take the other ferry back to Halifax. Easy! Just had to make change for the no-credit-card fee which was very, very reasonable. Good time!

Doesn't serve a purpose other than bringing you across the river. Prices are steep, and access somewhat limited. Worth going on a nice summer day, otherwise stay out of Dartmouth 😉

We decided we didn't want to stay in downtown Halifax, but we didn't want to have to park either when we went to the boardwalk, so we stay at the IHG property in Dartmouth, walked down the ferry ($1.75 Seniors) and it dropped us right where we wanted to be. We walked the boardwalk all day and climbed aboard and... More

I went on a weekend, and could have taken the bridges over. This is a different experience, and the view of the city from the ferry is good.

The ferry is cheap and easy and arrives right at the boardwalk in Halifax. Great night or day. The view of Halifax can't be beat. At night the city shines like a jewel. Worth the trip even if you have no need to cross! It's like a cheap Harbour excursion! Loved it.

I travel the Halifax ferry daily, it is the most tranquil method of avoiding traffic. When visitors come to down make sure you include a walk on the boardwalk and a return ferry ride, for adult and children alike. panavisitic views in all direction

The terminal is located on the boardwalk and costs $2.50. The staff here are really helpful and you get to take in the great views of Halifax. You definitely need to be on the upper deck and just enjoy the trip.
