The Wines on the Water tour was so much fun. We were greeted by a flute glass of sparkling wine and a charcuterie board then led to our tables. The tables had plexiglass dividers between them but it was still possible to interact with those around you.
What followed were five courses paired with five NS wines…all were truly excellent, especially the beef. The dessert, chocolate by Peace By Chocolate, was perfectly paired with a lovely red wine.
The icing on the cake was the entertainment. Fiddle music as we came on board which later switched to singing and playing the guitar. Special songs were played for birthdays, anniversaries, and my retirement. The whole boat was singing along.
I’ve done many harbour cruises, so the scenery is nothing new to me, but perfect weather added to the ambience,
It was a great time and something I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for a great night with great food and wine.

The driver (Bethany) and tour guide (Rick) were professional and informative. My kids really enjoyed it - especially the seal that popped up in the harbour! We took the 9:45 a.m. time slot, which offered a discount.

Having experienced Hop On Hop Off bus tours in other places we decided that this was a great option to explore the city of Halifax.
As we were part of a cruise the initial demand at the Cruise Terminal was high (over a 2 bus wait) so we headed for the Maritime Museum on foot. This was a fifteen minute walk along the boardwalk which was a scenic route to take.
After viewing the museum we were unfortunately faced with a wait the best part of an hour for the next bus; again a consequence of when two large cruise ships Dock simultaneously.
However once on the buses we found the route taken to be interesting and the commentary given by the guides very good. They all knew their facts and delivered it with a good sense of humour.
Stopping at the Cemetery where the majority of the Titanic victims are buried we piggybacking on an organised tour (by the Gray Line) and listened to the commentary.
This is the part where the Tour Company excelled as I stupidly dropped my mobile device on a bench at the Cemetery.
However I was lucky as the next guide to the site, Joanne, picked it up. One I realised my error I reported it to the company and they returned my device at the Cruise terminal. I cannot express how grateful I feel towards Joanne for doing this.
Top service, certainly saved me fro being grumpy for the next few days.
So overall, a good route, great guides, interesting stops but expect a little waiting if a number of cruise ships are in.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing this review with us! We're so glad that you enjoyed the Hop On Hop Off experience. Thanks for patiently waiting for the bus to arrive - you are right that buses tend to fill quickly when multiple cruise ships are in town. Very glad that someone found and returned your phone! Hope to see you again in Halifax in the future.

I've gone to a lot of the tourist spots in Halifax and this way by far my favourite! I didn't realize the bus takes you through the city, exploring the main streets. The announcer/host was hilarious, staff were so friendly and welcoming. We were all entertained and the host provided lots of great facts about the city that I wasn't aware of. The bus was filled with children, adults and seniors. Being out on the water was amazing, we picked the perfect day. Not only would I recommend this excursion to friends and family, but I would definitely go again and again.

If you don't have a car and are travelling solo or with only one other, cheaper than taking a taxi to Peggy's Cove. There is no public transit to Peggy's Cove. The guide had some useful information on our brief tour of Halifax before going to Peggy's Cove, but like most guides, would say things like "on your left", rather than, for example, "the three storey grey and red building on the left of the front of the bus" so not always clear what she was talking about. And sometimes could not see what she was referring to. But as I said, it is cheaper than taking a taxi for a solo person or a couple.
And at least Ambassatours did not cancel late the day before as they did for my tour to Lunenburg. Luckily, three of us left in the lurch by Ambassatours got together for a taxi to and from Lunenburg which between the three of us was only slightly more expensive than the tour.
In Peggy's Cove itself we were on our own. Peggy's Cove has some attractive buildings and the lighthouse is striking against the rocks.
Some nice views of water on the way. I was on driver's side on way to Peggy's Cove and it seemed to me I had better view of the water on the way there. I assumed on the way back the views would not be as good a view but we took a different way back so once again I had good views.

My wife and I , aged 60 enjoyed a lovely date night dinner cruise on the Harbour Queen. From setting up our reservation to disembarkment everything went very smoothly. Bryan is a great guide and even taught me a few things about Halifax. (A hard thing to do). Chef Joey made two great entres, braised beef (could cut with a fork) and halibut in a lemon caper sauce. Delicious. Only issue with the meal is it could of been a little hotter. The views of the harbour and North West Arm were amazing. Only downside was Covid kept the numbers down. If tou are worried about cleanlness the crew were great keeping everything sanitized and seating was distants.

The tour of Lunenburg was excellent many little jokes during the trip in the bus, I enjoyed waking around at first with the tour guide, and having sometime to walk around both towns, I wish there was an added lunch swell, and 2 hours in both spots. The tour guide was excellent the only problem that he should have used a speaker when off the bus, I could not hear him when we were off the bus.
Thank you to the tour guide for an excellent day and the driver Philip who drove us safely on the roads.

I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed the Halifax Hopper tour. Our tour guide was excellent providing his commentary with such ease, humour and professionalism. I would highly recommend hopping on board the Hopper as it is great value for the price of the ticket and well worth your time.

Visited George's Island, last week, for lunch with Ambassatours. It's always a treat to visit this "mysterious" island. It's only $25 per person and you can add a lunch if you wish. My lobster roll was $24 and it was worth every bite. It was huge.

Overall a pleasant experience. We arrived early, as requested, and after waiting half an hour in the rain we were told that we would have to wait for the next tour because our tour was underbooked. If we had been informed of this, we would have arrived later. The departure time is more of a suggestion than a requirement as we departed at least 10 minutes late, making our overall wait time about an hour. The guide was very informative and interesting but he held the microphone so close to his mouth that his voice was distorted and so we missed 25% of what he said. The captain of the amphibious vehicle was professional and had a good sense of humour. A worthwhile activity with some minor issues.

Does this tour go whale watching? Which of the Ambassador tours includes whales?

There isn't a specific Whale Watching tour but there is the Coastal Nature Tour and the Lobsters & Lighthouses Tour. Visit the website and choose Coastal Exploring.

Hi, we want to go whale watching on the 19th. Can you tell me if we need to book early and what time is the trip. There are 5 of us and any time is good.

You should be able to get tickets when you are about to go on the tour. As stated in my review, this attraction DOES NOT provide a chance to see whales.
