A true gem - in my opinion, this should be a "MUST" to every citizen of our city and it should be on the top of any list for tourists interested in our history.

The park is well layed out, extremely well explained. With the recent public facilities, it is now a family friendly place to spend the whole day.

The kids play-ground is interesting and challenging. Also, I have noticed over the past few months that items in the children's park of less interest have been removed and replaced with other items to interest children.

There is more than ample and convenient seating possibilities and lots of explainations of what the historic significance of the park is.

Beautiful memorial park, a stop on our guided tour with Down East Tours. Our guide Mel explained the history of the Halifax explosion and the meaning of the different areas of the memorial. Also an off leash dog park which I thought was great dual use of the space

A memorial for the victims of the Halifax explosion. Well worth a visit. Don't miss the stairs leading up to the memorial!

It was only a few years ago that I came to find out about the 1917 Halifax Explosion, the largest human-created explosion until the atomic bomb. This park and the displays associated with the memorial to those who died, was opened around the centenary of the explosion. It's worth the brief visit; especially moving is the memorial to Vince Coleman, hero who gave his life to warn an oncoming train of the impending disaster.

There is street parking and a number of ways to climb to the top of the park. Good views of the city from the top. There is an athletic field at the top where dogs are permitted to go off leash. The park is a good place to take your dogs for an outing.

After the well documented explosion in 1917 this lovely park at the Hydrostone area offers a great space for children to run around and enjoy the play area and for others to wander along to the memorial set within the park and reflect on the incident that changed Halifax forever. Just a short walk from the Hydrostone stop on the Hop-On/Hop-Off and well worth the walk and time spent.
