Its amazing that the whole south end of Halifax is Point Pleasant park. A large park, like a maze almost.. You should go to the south end of the park where the abandoned navy homes are, all concrete, sit in one and just watch the...More
This was a nice park, but quite a walk from downtown, so taking pubic transit is probably best for most. I agree that it is mostly used by dog walkers, but I didn't have any negative encounters. There are map signs near the entrances, and...More
This park rocks! The views are spectacular, the trails are wonderful, the whole place is very well cared for, abundant parking. And there are many trails where you can have your dog OFF leash which is amazing.

Nope - just park in the upper parking lot, grab a delicious ice cream from the friendly folks at the corner convenience store there and start walking! I recommend going straight on the path so you can see Martello Tower on the right, the old fort on the left, straight through to the beach on the Noethwest Arm.
Then you can follow the water to go back, check out the big bandstand/gazebo, the sailors memorial, and end at Black Rock beach. Then you can walk back up the road to the upper parking lot, either through the park or on the sidewalk by the road.
