Worth the time to walk around this site and the connecting boardwalk along the Annapolis Royal waterfront. Take a picnic lunch or try one of the local places for bite then continue on. Makes for a pleasant afternoon.

Enjoyed the informative displays inside the museum. There was lots of information that was very interesting. Many interactive components that the kids liked too. The outside grounds are lovely, beautiful for walking. Great activity book for kids.

We learned a lot about the history of this region, and the role of the Acadians and the Micmac, the English and the French, and how this fort changed hands many times.

The ground are spectacular. The indoor exhibit is informative an prepares a context for the fort outside. It is hoped that the other structures can be excavated in the not too distant future.

The site provides visual, written and oral experiences that lead one to a better understanding of the area history. Visiting here helped me understand and connect better with my ancestry that is rooted in Port Royal.

I fo not know if they are opened in the winter. We got the senior's rate as I am an old gal, so it was only $6.80 for my old fellow and I.

If you only want to walk on the site, with a leash, I think you can. But if you want a guide you better with no dog.
