They were painting the steps up to the monument so we hiked up the rocks and it was a lot of fun! Great views of the old town and interesting history of bush pilots especially since im a pikot. This aside, it's a great little place to see and a quick little excursion...

The Bush Pilot's Monument is a fitting tribute to those pioneers who helped to open up the north, those who gave their lives, and those who continue to fly people and goods where there is no other transport options.

The location is fantastic as well; you've a view of the whole city and the lake, you can watch the ski planes in the winter and the float planes in the summer, and its an amazing local to watch the Northern Lights

Nice walk from town - slight elevation gain and numerous stairs at the monument but well constructed and informative. Just over a mile from the Explorer Hotel

A fairly easy walk up some stairs to this monument which gives you nice views of Old Town, and the Great Slave Lake and surrounds. Worth the walk.

The view is really nice but I was kind of disappointed as I was told it was a hike to get there.... more of a city walk then a few stairs.

Nice view for sure and a must do in YK I guess but NOT A HIKE!

A small hill at one end of old town.
Here you can overview old town, the great slave lake around city and downtown.

The Pilot's monument is easy to walk to from the center of town and offers a nice view of the town and the river. It has steps to the top so it is easy to reach.

This monument is easy to find. There is a wooden stair going up to the top of the hill. After that you will see the beautiful scenery of the bay and the surrounding area. I have tried to take a photo of the monument, unfortunately some selfish visitors took too long sitting by it for photo posting. The area is very small and despite the respect of past efforts of the pilots, that behavior is just unacceptable.
