About
The Rooms is a place for all of us: for those who live here and those who want to experience it fully. Part sanctuary, part showcase, part classroom and part playground, it’s both a destination and a journey. This is a gathering place, a creative space and a cultural centre as distinct and unique as Newfoundland and Labrador. It is our place to come together, to create meaningful and memorable experiences. It is our place to share the best of who we are.

A great place to visit!
Oct 2021
We loved the Rooms! We prefer doing activities that are outdoors, but this did not disappoint. We loved seeing a variety of artists, as well as the history of St. John's. We would definitely recommend a visit to the Rooms!

An interesting place to visit
Oct 2021 • Couples
This is an interesting place to visit with many historical, cultural, artistic and informative displays. The building is beautiful and the cafe on the 4th floor is definitely worth a stop. We visited on a rainy day and everyone found it a very interesting way to spend the 3 hours.

The one site in St. Johns that you can't miss
Sep 2021
The Rooms is an absolutely outstanding museum, which provides a superb overview of Newfoundland and key events in Newfoundland history. Not to be missed. And, incidentally, we happened to stumble on the museum cafe, on the 4th floor. Food was very good - but view was incredible. If you visit, save time for lunch at the cafe.

Museum that made our day!
Sep 2021 • Couples
A very pleasant surprise, I wasn’t sure what kind of museum this was and sadly our city tour guide yesterday didn’t tell us anything positive about it. Fabulous collection of historical artifacts, natural history and art. Delightful cafe with a great view..
Great views from the observation deck
Don’t miss!

Be sure to catch the views
Sep 2021 • Couples
I am not much of an artsy person but I did enjoy this site. There are plenty of museum pieces and sections to make this an interesting place to go on a rainy day ( which could be any day in St John’s) There are 4 levels. Be sure to go on both patios for one of the best views of the city. You do have to pay for parking but it was reasonable. I would recommend this site over the Johnson Geo Centre on signal hill

Informative and Impressive building and exhibits
Aug 2021
Well worth going to - even though we were 4 adults - my husband and I and our daughter and her husband, we were given the family rate which was very nice. The various galleries and exhibits are all extremely well put together and we learned so much in our time there!

Nice museum in a fascinating building
Aug 2021
This is a strange-looking building from the outside, almost something a kid drew as a sketch that someone then built, but the inside is fabulous space.
The museum collection is very interesting and well-curated, and the art gallery is small but well put-together.
The views from any of the huge windows are spectacular. Definitely worth a visit, especially on a damp day.

A Cool Spot to Checkout
Aug 2021
This is such a cool spot - we took a couple of hours and walked through the whole thing. Exhibits on the war and the role NFLD played was truly exceptional. Some of the art installations were a bit overwhelming for me, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed them (they did have warnings for strobing lights and sounds so thank you - appreciate that).

There is also a cafe on site but we did not stop in. The museum does have a few lookoff areas that offer fantastic views of the city.

Many of the spaces were not in use due to COVID19, but they were mostly the big activity spaces that students/class visits would use, so it was absolutely still worth going.

Money well spent
Aug 2021
This museum is really a quite imposing structure, visible from just about everywhere. It is very well designed with interesting sections about Newfoundland history. We were a little disappointed with a gift shop with its relatively plain and narrow selection of items. But the views are excellent. The price of admission is very reasonable. However, the cafe is quite pricey. But our overall experience was very positive.
