About
Stonehammer UNESCO Global Geopark is located in Southern New Brunswick on the East Coast of Canada. Stonehammer Geopark is a geological park where you can experience a billion years of Earth’s history. The landscape of the Stonehammer Geopark has been created by the collision of continents, the closing and opening of oceans, volcanoes, earthquakes, ice ages and climate change. The rocks of our geopark have been witness to the evolution of life, from the first discovery of Precambrian stromatolite fossils, to the ‘Cambrian Explosion’ of life, to the evolution of vertebrates and the emergence of life on land. The geopark includes geological stories from late Precambrian time a billion years ago to the most recent Ice Age, and almost everything between.

What an amazing place to discover. My teenagers literally took off to go explore this fabulous geo park. The tide was low so it made all the difference. Being able to cross the stream and get to the rock formations over billions of years old! Needless to say we loved it. No fee to explore! We stayed a long while taking it all in.

Hello everyone,
I live in Saint John but thought I'd write a review for those coming our way. We have some very cool things for you to see and do.
We are proud to be the home of the Stonehammer Geopark, supported by UNESCO. We are the first geopark in North America. Having a billion years of history to explore will keep you busy. To learn more of course you can check out the website for Stonehammer Geopark.
A tour boat ride at reversing falls Rapids is great way to see the tide of the Bay of Fundy and learn how the area was created over time as the earth moved. I take the tour every year myself. The Fundy Trail is another I am certain you will enjoy.
Just ask when you call or come by we love to brag about it all. Cheers Terry

Stonehammer Geopark adds an extra layer of interest to many existing attractions in the Saint John area. Most locals wouldn't realize how interesting the geology is in the area. Visit the website at stonehammergeopark.com to get a better understanding of how this park works, as it covers a massive area from St. Martins to Lepreau.

I was pumped to go to Stonehammer Geopark - the office is at the museum. Driving all the way here I was told that there is no actual 'geopark' the 'geos' are everywhere including Rockwood Park. It's not an actual thing.

Have to make sure you check the tides table and get there before the tide starts to come in. We wanted to see the caves so we had to go through a little bit of water to get to them. Well worth it. Spectacular view.

The entire area is great if you love amazing rocks. Though one warning to tourists the address is not correct and don't look for an actual park. The Geopark represents the entire Saint John region.

We stumbled upon this park by mistake. Very interesting history, lovely setting, they even have a restaurant there, which I was surprised to learn is run by a non-profit society. If I lived in Saint John, I would go often.

Nice photo of the cliff face explaining the geology and showing the geological features. Then the nice beach and rocks for collecting. There is great fast food near by. Great spot to spend an afternoon.

Further evidence of the presence of Pangea, some of the exposed rock sources from far South America while others source from Africa. You must know what you're looking at or have a guide to show you the difference. Good for rock hounds
