Stayed on the island for 1 week. Did whale watching, walked to the Swallow Tail Lighthouse, went to Whitehead Island, beautiful spot there. And many more sites.

Don't misunderstand my comment. It is beautiful. However, lots of other places offers that kind of landscape without needing taking a ferry. To us, the ferry was more interesting than the Island. Clearly overrated.

We spent a day exploring the island. Some quint shops and great views of the ocean. One of the best parts of the day was the ferry ride. We saw a number of whales and dolphins. That part was worth the trip for us. Next time we will bring our trailer and camp at the park on the island.

It takes a salty sole to live on this island. Generations have made their lives there. Although I enjoyed our stay camping there and whale watching from our tent at Hole in the Wall CG - this is an island that is very maritime typical. Small homes, fishing and lobster operations, churches, few stores about 10 roads. Its nothing fancy.... More

Getting to Grand Manan involves a 1.5 hour trip on a very modern ferry. The ferry ride is beautiful and a good start to your trip. If you don't go with your car you will be very limited in what you can access, so plan to drive on and off the ferry. Grand Manan has several interesting places to visit... More

Grand Manan is a great place to visit with very friendly people, all kinds of scenery and wildlife as well as wonderful food and accommodations. However, getting there is a lot of the fun and on a nice day the ferry ride there and back is a great way to start and end your holiday. I have been whale watching... More

The ferry ride over was fantastic, We just went for the day and wish we would have stayed longer. Beautiful views every where. If you are looking for the best Donuts ever.... they are at the little stand on the right as you arrive off of the ferry. Seriously the best.

Just got back from my first trip to Grand Manan Island and all I can say is where has this island BEEN all my life? Whales, puffins, beaches, ocean, friendly locals, sheer cliffs, great food, golfing... and that was just TWO days of exploration!! My advice: Take the family for a week!

What a fun time had by all. Great place to visit for a few days or a week Be sure to take the boat to Puffin Island. It was a trip to remember and see Puffins in the wild, just as they are meant to be. Trips are only available during certain times due to breeding season

Really enjoyed my visit to Grand Manan Island - the ferry rides to and from, the meals eaten, the touring, the birding, the whale watch - this is a wonderful destination, and I hope to return again and again.
