I found Vimy Ridge Memorial Park to be moving and informative. The grounds are peppered with shell holes from World War 1 it is an amazing site. There is a small museum, restored trenches, and an opportunity to explore the underground tunnels with a guide. The guides here are university students from Canada, who, quite simply are great ambassadors for Canada. They are extremely personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. I strongly recommend a visit to Vimy Ridge.

What a wonderful place to remember the heroes of yesteryear and listen and learn to what happened during the Great War.
Nicely presented, immaculately cared for and Tour guides with great knowledge.
This really shows the horrid things that happened during the Great War.

I've lived in the area since I was younger. I've always found the park peaceful. My wife and I took our sons the when they were small. We used to go there for walks when we were newly married. The gardens towards portage avenue are always beautifully designed. I mainly go there in the warmer weather, but the park has activates all year long.

Untold thousands pass this little piece of green space every day and probably wonder about it, its importance and what exactly is offered there. First, as a commemorative for the valiant young soldiers of the Canadian Army who took this infamous Ridge during a gruesome WWI battle. Then as much-needed and appreciated green space for the local community as well as those passing-by and needing a break. And finally as a great place for young and old to get away from the world for a few hours on a hot summer's day, to splash in the water and recharge.

There are no massive displays of interactive exhibits, rather this small green space honours some of Winnipeg's finest. The Mynarski statue is extremely well done. It's a story in which Winnipeger's should be aware of and hold great pride.

Vimy Ridge is a Memorial Park. On remembrance day it is one of the places where commemoration ceremonies take place. So, there are a some monuments along the northern zone of the park, close to Portage Av. Besides that, it is a very nice park with big elm trees and some other species, a huge lawn, pathways, benches and tables. There is a wading pool in Summer and a skating rink in winter. It is good for children, picnics, meet with friends, walk alone, read a book and so on. The neighbourhood is nice and quiet. I like it!

basically just a park, couple of war statues most people don't relate too...great for kids in the summer, small water park, suitable for young kids nothing for adults, they used to have lawn bowling not sure if they still do...lots of vagrants hang around...unless there is an event, not a family spot...panhandlers everywhere, small bbq pit, not clean...

The park has undergone some renovations and upgrades, including new memorial statues and plaques. The walkways are also much easier to navigate, especially for those with mobility issues. A great tribute, and ceremony, on Remembrance Day. A great memorial and a great park environment, highly recommended.

We went to have a picnic lunch and weren't there very long before some homeless people came asking for money and not that I have anything against homeless people. I feel for them and that is why I give to Silome Mission and Agape table. I don't like being approached for money.
