This was my second time with Nature 1st Tours, during polar bear season. I first toured in Oct 2017. I enjoyed seeing polar bears of course, hearing the history of Churchill, the colorful characters who lived/live in Chuchill and Paul's stories. His stories are educational and entertaining. I'm fascinated how Paul has bear proofed his house.

I would highly recommend Nature 1st Tours for anybody wanting to see the Churchill area and wildlife. Our driver, Dave, was very knowledgeable and interesting. He knew where to find polar bears which was the highlight of the day. You won't go wrong with this tour

We greatly enjoyed our tour with Nature 1st. Our guide, David, possessed immense knowledge of the area surrounding Churchill and we learned much while seeing first hand a diverse set of sites ranging from Radar Installations to the beautiful Cape Merry overlooking the mouth of the Churchill River. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone with a couple days or more in Churchill.

We were very fortunate to have a half day Nature 1st Roads and Trails tour of Churchill, Manitoba, the Polar Bear Capital of the world, with the most amazing guide ever, Paul. Why was this tour our best ever? Although our Hudson Bay Railway train was unavoidably delayed in arriving in Churchill (otherwise an amazing train adventure), Paul was at the station to meet the train and still gave us a tour of 4 1/2 hours. Good thing his wife, the very organized and knowledgeable Pam, who owns the company, was keeping his dinner on hold! They work longer hours in order to make every customer happy. Paul tailored our tour to our personal interests in the flora, fauna, history and lifestyle of Churchill. He has lived there for over 40 years and has encyclopedic knowledge of everything Churchill, partly gained over the years from guiding many scientists on the tundra. He also answered the questions we didn't know enough to ask, making every moment a chance to learn something new and fascinating. His love of the sub Arctic is very evident as he shares the many ways that he and his family enjoy where they live. He makes each tour personal and fun whether for two in his four wheel drive truck, or a bus load. Paul showed us not only wildlife but the town, for example, the former Churchill Research Rocket Range and the Northern Studies Centre outside town as well as the urban centre, the Community Centre Complex, and some of the many wall murals. Paul found our first three polar bears for us, a mother and twin COYS (1 year old "cubs of the year") within half an hour. They were resting on the Hudson Bay beach. At the end of the tour he took us back to the spot and we saw them swimming! He found three males as well, two sparring with each other and one almost invisible lying among some white rocks. But the most breathtaking was the 500 pound female out for a stroll on the tundra who, being curious, walked right up to Paul's truck and observed us intently from about 1 metre before ambling off. One of the very best experiences of our lives!! Oh, and he found the perfect spot for us to dip our toes in Hudson Bay, part of the Arctic Ocean! Thanks Pam and Paul of Nature 1st!

I was fortunate enough to have gone on a half day city and polar bear excursion with Paul. It was not one of those trips where there were a bus load of people but just 3 people in a truck which meant that we could access difficult to access places. Paul is very knowledgeable and provided great insights. I got to see 2 polar bears one of which 50 yards away. I look forward to being in touch with Paul and gain insights on my travel to the high arctic and other needs.
