A group of 4 of us did the self guided tour, one of which was kayaking on her own for the first time, and loved it. The trip was super fun, easy with just a few fun bumps in the proverbial road - beaver dams, which you had to navigate, which only added to the fun, and an easy assisted portage in the middle. It was beautiful, and the staff are amazing, super friendly, and take care of getting you out and back safely. Highly recommended for the whole family!…

The self guided canoeing trip down the river of golden dreams was a lot of fun. We had 2 canoes with 3 people in each. It was a beautiful day and very quiet. There were many beaver dams to go over so I don’t recommend using an inflatable. We were picked up at the end and brought back. Everything was perfect!…

Rented Kayaks, friendly knowledgeable staff! Reasonable rental prices. We had a wonderful time kayaking on beautiful Alta Lake, highly recommend renting from Backroad Whistler.

It was a fun and relaxing experience. We didn't used the guided tour. The water level was pretty low so there were sections needed to carry the canoe over logs and sandbars. I would say there was part of the fun experience. The staff was very friendly and professional during the pre-trip orientation and pack-up service at the end of the river. I would recommend this tour to anyone has some outdoor experience.…

The river itself was amazing. But there was very little direction for the self guided tour. We couldn’t find the entrance to the river. Once we were done we had no idea what we were suppose to do. We had to wait for a long time and help get all the kayak and canoes loaded (which was fine if we expected that) at the end. THEN we were all loaded into a bus together! There was NO COVID PRECAUTIONS AT ALL. A bit more communication and covid precautions would be a complete game changer. The staff was friendly and the River was AMAZING!!…

Thank you for your review and we are happy you had a great river trip! Our staff appreciated the gratuity you gave them. One of the reasons guests love to Adventure on their Own on our unguided trip is they get to explore, discover something new and find the secret entrance to the river. That’s why people love paddling the river….the feeling of accomplishment, they did it! We do also offer guided trips for those who prefer not to navigate themselves. The river orientation gave you the information you needed for the river. Given it’s a go with the flow trip guests arrival times are all a bit different but usually within 15 minutes of each other. We don’t tell you everything or it wouldn’t be an adventure. Our BC Health Covid precautions have been working seamlessly, which may be why you didn't notice them. We have new digital check-in stations (which are 2 meters apart) and our Lifejacket and Paddle locker area that has staff greeting guests at a distance. Our return shuttle bus follows BC Transit guidelines, for example: less people per load and doubled our trips so when guests like yourself arrive early (or late) wait times are shorter. We also sanitize the vehicle between trips. Hope to see you soon, we guarantee the river will be different each time you paddle it.
