This is a little bit of hidden gem just a little south west of the University. Great hiking trails in every direction. It might be wise to try time your visit during mornings or evenings. Tour buses frequent the fantastic views from this vantage point during the day. From here one can see the entire City and the water beyond in nearly all directions. Great spot.

If I was a teenager this might be the greatest make-out park in the area; road access, great view, plenty of parking spots. I've never been at night but during the day it's really cool too. Gorgeous natural Garry Oak meadows, exposed rock surfaces, plenty of picnic tables, marked trails, interpretative markers. Didn't spot a washroom or water source. It can be accessed from two main roads. Mayfair Drive entrance heading east on Cedar Hill Cross Road is easy to miss, so it could use a prominent sign. This is officially a District of Saanich municipal park and is well maintained by their Parks Department. Take a lunch or make a date, you'll enjoy yourself.

There's a nice lookout at the top. You can get a 360 degree view from there. Lots of parking. The park is great as well. Lots of trails.

It's impossible to beat the views and convenience of Mt. Tolmie. The Shaw Open Wifi is a big bonus, especially for people looking to catch Pokemon. One major downside is the gross grey cement structure up top. Years ago it was covered in beautiful graffiti. I'm not sure what idiot in city hall decided we needed massive grey eyesores everywhere, but I'll be glad when they retire and the younger generation fixes some of their depressing choices.

Also the best spot to talk loudly about business stuff on your cellphone. I don't know why but it seems like every time we come here there's some jackwagon doing shouty business and pacing around in front of all the cars, blocking the magnificent view of the city and Olympic mountains with their giant ego-inflated-heads.

Despite that, every single person that comes to Victoria should make a pilgrimage *here* instead of any doing any other outdoor activity if there needs to be a choice. The views are amazing and if you like hearing about business stuff or watching goofy college kids make out, your odds seem rather good.

Mount Douglas nearby is higher I think, but its summit is surrounded by trees and it's less accessible (ie: you have to get out of your car and walk places to see stuff and who wants to do THAT). Mt. Tolmie on the other hand has a clear almost 360 degree view of the universe, give or take depending on how many fat bulging businessman heads are in the road.

Great view of the city and mountains beyond. The nice thing about the park is its easy to get to without having to fight any traffic.

Mount Tolmie, in a location between Camosun College and UVic, offers probably the best view over Victoria and its surroundings. The views of the Olympics, the Cascades and Mount Baker is also spectacular. The trails in the park are pleasant and not particularly challenging. The parking is more than adequate and free. Highly recommended.

We visited Mount Tolmie Park in Victoria, British Columbia, as part of the shore excursion called "O Canada", from the Norwegian Joy cruise ship. Mount Tolmie Park overlooks the Shelbourne Valley, and you can view the town as well as the sea and the mountains in the background. Parts of the park include hiking trails, some hills included, and it is one of the best place to view the city. The park is so high, that you can even see the Cascade Mountain range of Washington State! Very pretty views.
