This area is really quiet without cruise ships due to COVID19. No traffic means more bicycles, roller bladers and strollers. The breakwater itself is fine for distance keeping and nearby the Dallas Road promenade is almost done, with new railing up and final paving to take place in the next few weeks. At the breakwater cafe you can now get ice cream on a cone which adds a new dimension to your sea side ambling.

Definitely add this to your itinerary when visiting Victoria.

It's a bit of a long walk from the start of the walkway to the furthest end where the lighthouse is situated, but absolutely worth it. The view is both spectacular and calming, especially in the late afternoons. Sitting on the bench beneath the lighthouse, gazing out into the vast expanse of water made me introspective

Dress appropriately as it can be windy and chilly, depending on the time of year you visit. I went early May, and luckily was layered up so I didn't have to boycott my walk. Also, this is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, so it can be crowded sometimes.

Victoria is home for us. On New Year’s Day we decided to walk along Ogden Point breakwater. There was a 30-40 knot wind blowing. It was cold and sunny. Waves were breaking over the sea wall wetting anyone who was prepared to walk to the end of the breakwater. It was cold and bracing. At the end of the breakwater there is a light behind which folk were sheltering. Incredibly there was a young man cooking mini cheeseburgers which he was giving away . When asked, he said he tried to give something different back every New Year’s Day. They were delicious. And go to show there’s something wonderful to be found at home.

The place to walk to blow away the cobwebs. Suggest you walk along the top going out and then along the outer side to see all the art work. Take care of tide and waves if you choose to do that. Only go if you're in the area. We wouldn't make a special trip out to it.

After lunch at the Breakwater Bistro we walked to the Ogden Point lighthouse and back. The afternoon was sunny; there was little wind: a splendid day for an early spring walk. From the breakwater I could see the place where the ship on which my family and I arrived in Victoria had docked almost 70 years ago. I also remembered more than one walk along the pier when I was a teenager and in my early twenties, including a chilly but bracing walk one New Year’s Day. Happy memories!

We walked round the coast to these breakwaters which are amazing. The views are beautiful as the sun goes down.we even saw a cruise ship arrive just before dark. It didn’t stay long as it had disappeared by 9 am the next day when we went whale watching!

This is among the best spots in Downtown Victoria and is apparently the best place to see the sunset. The pier is quite long and at the edge you are staring at the vast expanse of the sea. It can get very very windy and there is a good chance that you might get drenched by the waves breaking upon the rocks next to the pier (we did get wet).

Pleasant facility within walking distance of the scenic Inner Harbor. Transportation also available. Beautiful views across the water to Washington State. We were enthusiastically welcomed as the first cruise ship passengers in about 900 days!

Went for a walk to the very end. Got to see a harbour seal eating fish! Nice long walkway out into the ocean, saw some scuba divers coming out of the water too. There were a few sea lions that popped up to take a breath and then they disappeared. It was cloudy so we didn’t get to utilize the sundial but it would be cool if it was sunny.

We absolutely loved walking along the breakwater. Did it several times during this visit. If you are lucky you will see people scuba diving right up against the wall of the breakwater - fascinating! We enjoyed sitting on the benches at the very end of the breakwater and watching the boats, float planes and sometimes cruise ships pass by. If you are prone to cold bring a windbreaker or sweatshirt. We didn't need one but others seemed to be affected by the wind.
