About Kelp Reef Adventures
Kayaking is the best way to see Victoria. We specialize in safe, fun and educational kayak tours of Victoria's Harbour and waterfront. Our floating location at Fisherman's Wharf is a 10 minute walk from the cruise ship terminal and 20 minutes from downtown on the scenic boardwalk. We are the closest kayak shop to the Juan de Fuca straight, so when conditions allow, we will paddle along the coast to the kelp forests and an island the harbour seals frequent. Along the way we may see different shore birds like eagles, osprey, oystercatchers, cormorants, and the great blue heron. Starfish, jelly fish and kelp crabs are usually hiding just below the surface. Kayaking is easy and we make it easier by offering paddling jackets, gloves and a bottle of water. Plus on our kayak launch you won't even get your feet wet!

Our group of 9 had a wonderful 3 hour tour around the harbour. Brandon, Austin and Mitch were all professional, informative guides with much knowledge of the sea and history of Victoria Harbour. The tour starts with a detailed safety protocol talk, how to use paddles etc (great for newbies to kayaking) and a discussion on where we will travel. We all felt safe and I would totally recommend Kelp Reef Adventures to all.

My guide Mitch was kind enough to accommodate my last minute request for a tour on June 1st. I hadn't kayaked in 4 years and so I was uncertain about my level of stamina. He decided to use a tandem kayak and we were able to experience what would typically be a 3 hour tour within the two hour time frame which was awesome. Mitch was full of information on the sea life and about crossing the harbour safely. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The weather was fantastic and we were able to witness the harbour seals sunning on the rocks and an otter scurrying around the shore. He pointed out the kelp forest and a sea star and was able to identify a variety of sea flora. I highly recommend Kelp Reef Adventures if you want a fun, safe and informative experience.

Great kayak tour! We saw seals and otters all around the harbour. Brandon was a chill and knowledgeable tour guide. The location at fisherman’s wharf is also really nice.

Our guide was Thom, we went in August. He was fantastic. Good sense of humor, very knowledgeable and made sure we all had fun. Loved seeing the baby seals up close and learning a little back story to the sites we saw. Thanks Thom for the great day!

Thank you to the wonderful staff at Kelp Reef Adventures for a magical kayaking experience! They were safety-oriented, extremely knowledgeable about the local wildlife and history, and very friendly and personable! We saw seals, otters, different kinds of birds, crabs, starfish and more! Highlights were seeing the seals relaxing on the rocks, and getting to explore lots of hidden treasures along the inner harbour. Simply breathtaking!
