It was a nice 2 k walk to get to the restored trestle from the parking lot. There were many photos/displays explaining the history and some of the restoration. Great views of the River and the curve of the trestle allowed you to see the great wood beam work. You can also go down a set of stairs to get a different view.
Well worth the visit!

Built in the early 1900s as a rail line to carry lumber from the interior of Vancouver Island. It is 146 metres long and 44 metres high, and is one of the tallest wooden trestle bridges in the world. It is unique because of its 7 degree curve. Initially built like a jig saw puzzle with beams numbered as to where they joined.

When the bridge was no longer used it went into disrepair. It was revitalized as part of the Great Trail, crossing Canada, in 2011. Parking is available at various parts of the trail. The closest parking is approximately 1km to the south of the trail.

A large Trestle bridge with a great view of the river below. If you are a bicycler it would be a great place to go for a ride. I was there in Winter so maybe in summer there may be more pedestrians than a cyclist would like. Check it out. It is part of a large hiking area with another one 6 kms away that we did not hike to.

A tremendous hike! So beautiful!! It’s a about a kilometre from the parking lot, so it’s a bit of boot, especially with younger children. This free activity, puts you amongst the trees, you listen to the birds, the roar of the river below. It’s truly a wonderful spot to enjoy, probably about 15-20 minutes off of the Trans-Can, the Kinsol Trestle really allows you take in the beauty of British Columbia and Vancouver Island!!

Some improvement could be needed for amenities but then that would require maitenance and staff as people would stay much longer !! Tables and bbq/fire pits, and easier access to the water, and cleared area for blankets etc waterside. But then may eliminate the tranquility. Cyclists really need to be neutered, as they are quite quick to pass and families very loud. Remember voices carry in the wilderness. Beautiful area nonetheless .

Old railway line in the cowichan valley Near Victoria. Pleasant hike across the wooden bridge overlooking the river valley. Observation decks and trails down to the riverside. Fine in summer but might be hard to traverse in other seasons when rain occurs often. Cycling and walking trails surround the bridge. There are two parking lots at different points plus roadside parking. Outhouses for facilities too.

Very well signposted to get to the site. Excellent parking facilities and about a 20 minute walk to the trestle (approx 1.3km). It's an incredible feat of engineering. My first sight of it blew me away. Lots of information tere to tell you of the history and how it was actualy built. All quite remarkable and well worth a visit - lots of other walking trails lead from it as well.

Fun place to take photos and spend a relaxing day. It is a bit of a walk from the parking to the trestle, but it's level and an even surface. Even better if you're able to walk down the trail to the river and put your feet in!
Don't forget your water bottle, I don't remember there being any access to drinking water. Highly recommend for a peaceful day trip.

The wooden bridge is really spectacular, worth the detour. It's a short 5-10 min walk from the parking lot to the bridge. However... the road to get to it is winding, dirt/gravel and longer than expected. But, worth the effort to go see!

I highly recommend visiting Kinsol Trestle! It's an incredible structure with a nice view that also leads to many beautiful walking/hiking trails. It's worth walking to the bottom of the trestle to get an entirely different perspective of the structure and then dip your toes in the clear and refreshing, emerald green river. There are a few outhouses available along the trail.
